I'm 35, working as a QA engineer. I own no television so I tend to read a lot...or listen audiob0oks.
The story is awsome, I really liked the characters. Sean Crisden's voice is nice and sexy.
Still don't do comparisons each books are unique.
Just 3 words? Don't think so... The monologues were awsome, Stephen's voice was a great performance, the female voices not so much and Rand... well not the greatest try to make him sound macho and sexy.
Sort of. The story that I wanted to here all at once, the narration gave me doubts.
I surly will read the second book. And I will give an otber try to the narrator in a different book I really liked his voice even if I am not 100 percent fond of his performance in this book.
! Love to listen to jazz, r/b and listen to erotic or a good paranormal sci-fi and " good narration is everything"
I loved this story just as I loved listening to (Change of Heart and Guardian). Ms Calmes another good story thank you
A complete waste of time and money.
The plot is primitive and is clear from the third page. The characters are plain and don't develop whatsoever through the story. The book has no idea in it and doesn't even provide any entertainment.
There is better use for your money.
couldn't stop listning till it was over... So glad i spent the money on this book. cant wait to find more like it.. it would be nice if mary would make this a series...
I just love Mary Calmes writing. She has such great story line you can just see yourself there with them I hope they get the second book of this series After the Sunset.
It falls in the chasm between porn and novel, doing neither well or interestingly. Save your money, do not buy this.
Narration was baaaad, Felt rush and fake. Print version was better.
I enjoyed the reading of this story more than the audio. One thing I noticed is the narrator was rushing through the story, and really had problems with voice characterization. No real distinction between voices.Emotion was almost nil.
What could make this a 4 or 5 star listening experience? That's easy, if only it wasn't boring. And if the girl characters didn't sound like idiots and the main character seemed realistic, then sure. Let me just say that I bought this because I loved the Warder Series and I won't ask for my money back, because toward the middle, this book did get fun. but that didn't last long.
Not much was interesting. I did find some one liners that made me laugh out loud. The least interesting would have to be the girls. Geez they sounded stupid. Especially the best friend. The conflict was tepid at best.
The girl voices.
The best friend.
I will listen to stories from this author again, but I won't jump on them like I did the Warder Series. Those, I bought right away but these new ones, well, I'll be more careful. Her writing wasn't bad at all, and for that I am thankful. But the story just wasn't for me. Try the Warder Series. those were great, though the first few's narration was a bit... dry. I still liked them.
I bought this book because it had high marks and low price on Audible. I have to say the voice for Rand just sounded like the guy had a bad case of cold but everything else was really nice. I like the sweet story from the beginning to end. A really easy read about a nice gay guy and a really hot straight (or not so straight) guy. To tell the truth it read like a yaoi manga than an American m-m. And there is a sequel, but unfortunately no audio version.
truth in romance
the narration was not the best, seemed rushed and inflections not composed well for the story at hand. The character Rand sounded like a black mandingo and not anything how my impression came to me. Charlotte sounded like a valley girl instead of a texan. Luckly the story was wonderful and would have been an a+ if not for the bad narration. But over all I enjoyed and will try other books by this author!
