The way the narrator did the character voices. I mean, Stef was okay but ye gads Rand just sounded goofy so I couldn't take him seriously and some of the characters just sounded ridiculous. Namely Ben. He sounded like Grover. And the women... *shudder*
The whole enemies to lovers thing was the most interesting thing about it. The least interesting aspect was the 'secret' Charlotte was keeping.
The voices were grating. He read the narrative passages okay, but the voices he used for some of the characters was just unpleasant. If I'd met people who sounded like that in real life, I'd either walk away or slap them.
I don't know. Live on a ranch maybe?
Get rid of the 'Gay Romance' text in the title. I doesn't need to be there.
Sean Crisden. He does an incredible job with Mary Calmes' books.
Any scenes with Rand and Stefan.
Very good book, and an even better narration.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I loved this. Wow... I was like this is like brokeback mt but not...ya know. I loved the characters, but the sister has to be a little flighty right? LOL..
Great story and great smex...even with the drama thrown in.
Haven't read the print version
The interplay between Stefan and Charlotte really works to boost the main story going on between Stefan and Rand.
This one is great. Really like the narrator and his quirky sarcasm. I enjoyed the way he balances the characters with one another.
Yes..... and did!
This is the first book of Mary Calmes that I ever read, and it made me go look for the rest!!
What could make this a 4 or 5 star listening experience? That's easy, if only it wasn't boring. And if the girl characters didn't sound like idiots and the main character seemed realistic, then sure. Let me just say that I bought this because I loved the Warder Series and I won't ask for my money back, because toward the middle, this book did get fun. but that didn't last long.
Not much was interesting. I did find some one liners that made me laugh out loud. The least interesting would have to be the girls. Geez they sounded stupid. Especially the best friend. The conflict was tepid at best.
The girl voices.
The best friend.
I will listen to stories from this author again, but I won't jump on them like I did the Warder Series. Those, I bought right away but these new ones, well, I'll be more careful. Her writing wasn't bad at all, and for that I am thankful. But the story just wasn't for me. Try the Warder Series. those were great, though the first few's narration was a bit... dry. I still liked them.
truth in romance
the narration was not the best, seemed rushed and inflections not composed well for the story at hand. The character Rand sounded like a black mandingo and not anything how my impression came to me. Charlotte sounded like a valley girl instead of a texan. Luckly the story was wonderful and would have been an a+ if not for the bad narration. But over all I enjoyed and will try other books by this author!
It falls in the chasm between porn and novel, doing neither well or interestingly. Save your money, do not buy this.
I absolutely loved the main character and the romance between him and his love interest. This is my first audio gay romance novel and I was not disappointed.
A non supernatural non het of the Sookie Stackhouse series, perhaps.
Great voices. He was an absolute treat to listen to. Though, I have to wonder if reading the sex scenes made him giggle.
This audio book inspired me to buy it in paperback and the sequel. I am so hoping that they record the sequel for audible
Actually three things:
The exciting story
The main characters and their behaviour
The excellent narrator
Both of the main characters were strong characters and the narrator was able to carry this fact to the listener during the whole exciting great story
Well, he changed the voices for the several characters and they have been highly recognizing
The both main characters because they both have a memorable personality
I'll listen to this audiobook again. That says all I guess
