Kept me intwined and entertained.
Fantastic combination of paranormal and sexy scenes. Please come protect me, my Ghostwalkers!
This book was recommended by my mother because of the narrator. Tom Stechschulte does a wonderful job with the telling of this book! It was hard to stop listening when I had to work or do something that required my attention. I felt like I was right there with the characters of this story as it happened. I will definitely listen again!
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Captain Ryland Miller is a basically a "rat" in a cage as are his men in his military unit. They volunteered for a highly classified experiment to enhance the psychic abilities they each had. Dr. Peter Whitney is the head scientist with Colonel Higgens the military liaison. Several of Captain Miller's men have died of "brain bleeds" and other suspicious causes. They are all separated and can only communicate infrequently via telepathy.
Dr. Whitney and Col. Higgens come to talk to him and have brought guards and Dr. Whitney's daughter, Lily who is also a doctor and scientist. Dr. Whitney has asked his daughter to consult on the project as he is not sure why some of the men have died.
Ryland is immediately drawn to Lily and she to him. They communicate telepathically which scares Lily at first. Shortly after she is linked with her father and she realizes he is being killed and almost doesn't separate herself from him in time but with Ryland's telepathic help she does. In the coming days, no one else seems to know her father is dead not just disappeared and Lily becomes worried as she delves into her father's secret laboratory and papers finding secrets about him and herself that are very hard to take in.
The story progresses as Lily helps Ryland and his team break out and shelters them. Ryland, Lily and his team also work to find out how his other men died and who is responsible as it soon becomes apparent it is not Dr. Peter Whitney.
My one main problem in this story. I can't beleive I am saying this because I love a good sex scene. However, I felt there was too much spent on Lily and Ryland falling into bed and/or having sex in dangerous places almost every other page. I would like to have had more time spent on both the "bad" guys and the members of Ryland's team to get to know their characters more and what they had actually gone through being part of this experiment.
I still really enjoyed the book and although I felt there a few too many sex scenes they were well written and hot.
Tom Stechschulte was outastanding in the delivery of the story
Simply fabulous people. I am so loving the character in this series!
The psychic skills of the characters are fantastic!
His voice is great and all the characters have their own voice. I can see and hear them in my mind.
I laughed a lot and felt terrible for the victims of Lily's father!
Can't wait to read the next in the series!
I love Christine Feehan she is one of my favorite PR authors and this book doesn't disappoint.
This was a really good book and the first book of it's kind that I think would strongly appeal to both sexes. A lot of it is from the main male characters viewpoint. He's a soldier, special operations in a leadership position and as a former military wife I can say she was dead on with his characteristics and personality. Reminded me a lot of some folks I know. I think a man would like this book just as much as the ladies. A nice balance between story, character and animal attraction (and of course the results of that - it is Feehan after all). I'd certainly recommend the book or audiobook.
Strong characters, not a damsiel in distress type of thing, she is as much rescuing him as he ever rescues her.
Ryland - definitely. He oozed right out of the head phones and into my fantasies!
His emotions conflicting with his need to be all male.
Very well done from all sides. Particularly like that this book would be as enjoyable for the guys as the gals. I haven't seen another of this kind like that.
I love this series - read the book, now listened to the audio and Yes would listen again because there is romance with a twist, betrayal, intrigue, good versus evil again with twists and the happy ever after is replaced with the need to take each day as it comes.
I find the whole concept fascinating and the hero's are great characters with terrific chemistry between them. The heroine is compassionate and driven to correct her fathers evil. The development of trust between the agonised daughter who misses the father she loved and the men who were his victims is an integral part of the story. Even the lust/ love between hero and heroine is suspect because of the father's manipulation.
The pathos when Lilly realises that the feelings they have for each other may be pre programed. The fear and confusion she experienced added to the depth of her father's betrayal and manipulation of her. From early in the book she accepted how bad her fathers experiments were to the men, and as the story progresses she learns of others who were victims, but having to accept that she was also a victim of a man she thought loved and respected her, was for me a defining moment that was not treated lightly or weighted down to overly miserable. It was written with a deft hand and gave a paranormal story the light of reality with which reader or listener could empathis.
Neither. The more subtle reactions of smiling or sympathy
Christine Feehan is a favoured author because each series is entertaining while providing more depth than others.
I have read the series to book 8 and believe there is more that could be written. In the meantime cannot wait to hear all of the series on Audio.
Tom Stechschulte is terrific as the narrator, giving depth and personality to all the characters. Great narration.
I loved the way Lily and Ryland interacted and the way he was so gentle with her. The sex scenes were very good but still not on a par with her Leopard People series.
Ryland Miller. He was a contrast between a rough and tumble Army Ranger and a kind and gentle lover.
Yes. I thought his voice was perfect for Ryland Miller and he was able to modify it enough to let you know when Lily was talking.
Almost all of the interactions between Lily and Ryland were special. I liked the characters and I liked how Ryland supported Lily no matter the problem. I especially liked their dreamwalking sequences.
Christine Feehan is an exceptional writer of love/sex scenes. She must have an interesting life---all eleven kids worth!
I have read Christine Feehan before, and I completely enjoyed her series about the seven sisters. And yes there were some sexy scenes in those books, but this particular book left much to be desired.
The only thing this book has, is sex, lots of sex, and more lots of sex. If this book was made into a movie, it would be considered hard core pornography. The plot was non-existant and when mentioned it was only for a paragraph, and then it was back to the sex again.
This book really turned me off, and the narrator didn't help matters either.
Would I read any of the other books in this series? NO. Save your money, and your time.
