I will listen to NO boring book. Old Fav's,Card, King , Hobb. New Fav's, Hill, Scalzi, Sawyer, Interested in Lansdale, Crouch, Konrath
MY INTEREST WENT FROM ZERO TO NEGATIVE
I never realized that King wrote YA books. I always say that King writes horror as relish to his great stories and characters. This time he did neither. The story is extremely slow moving and after 7 and half hours very little suspense had been built. The characters were not interesting and not real believable. The school jocks' best friend is the wimpiest nerd in school? It is told in first person, which I feel was a mistake. It is full of teasers, the sign of a new writer. The jock makes fun of a fat family and what they eat, then later he is eating brown sugar sandwiches, twinkies and drinking Hawaiian Punch. The story is very slow, with lots of long illustrations to highlight his thoughts. King, an admitted baseball fan gets his football positions mixed up on offense and defense. An end plays defense and a Wide Receiver plays offense. You do not call a Wide Receiver an end.
I Think I love You
The story takes place in 1978. Young people today will wonder what was the big deal with a car having 97,000 miles. In the 70's a car with close to 100,000 miles was heading for the salvage yard. Everyone also knew how to change a flat, as with bias ply tires, flats were common. A Sean Cassidy 45, would be a popular heart throb's record. A 45 was a record with only two songs on it. One on each side. You may have seen Sean's brother, David Cassidy on reruns of The Partridge Family. I did like that the main character's family was close, something you don't always see in a YA book.
I wanted to see how it ended, but could not take another 12 hours of High School Life. Knowing King, the car probably turned into a space ship and flew into space on the last page, but I will never know.
I listen to a lot of everything. I really enjoy fiction, but also business books, self-improvement and lectures.
Good story. way more creepy than the movie.
the performance was also good.
a four is not a knock on it. Rather, 5 stars is for few books.
I enjoyed this book a lot. it's early King and has it's own flavor.
Great story, excellent writing, and a fabulous narrator ! Skip the movie and listen to the book. Stephen King is is a wonderful, discriptive storyteller. This one has all his trademarks, horror, gore, and great characters. Great audio book !
Maybe younger kids who like ghosts and stuff
Not a horror book next time.
None has interested me.
I just could not stop listening to this story. Not only was the story line fantastic, the narration of the story kept me engaged at all times.
