I have loved this book since I was a Teenager and have read it several dozen times. This is the first time I have heard it read out load and Holter Graham did a fabulous job. Will Definitely listen to this book again.
Love my family....along with guitars, cameras, and a good book!
First of all, let me say that I am a huge Stephen King fan. I have read most of his books, but for some reason I had never read this one! I know, I know...one of his biggest hits, but for some reason it had just never made it to my nightstand. So, as I purchased this audio book, I really didn't know what to expect.
My only basis for judgement had been a horrible movie that was made a long time ago. Most of King's books have made less than stellar movies. That, of course, is in no way a blanket statement, there have been some AMAZING movies based on his novels, but there have been some real duds as well. In my opinion, this movie was a dud. However, with that memory in mind, I began to listen to Christine.
I was snared almost immediately. Most of King's books have found a place deep in my heart, but from time to time he hits the proverbial nail on the head...squarely. Christine is one of those times. I LOVED that the main protagonist was not the narrator. The story is told from his best friends' point of view. The building of the characters was so masterfully done that I found myself completely invested by about page 100, and I could not stop listening. The story line moved along briskly, and as the events unfolded I was mesmerized. What a truly special book. I can't believe that I had not read this book before. What a shame.
My next step is going to be to actually read the printed book. I loved Holter Graham's narration, but there is just something in the reading that allows a story to get deeper under the skin. I look forward to that.
I want to feel good when I complete a story & am a little harsh on depressing ones. There are a few sad ones that I love but not many.
This book was so much better than I expected it to be. I've seen the movie as a child and thought it was scary but a little bit goofy. This book at my interest from beginning to end, the character development was outstanding and the plot was gripping. I think this is a must read for any King fan.
I listen to a lot of everything. I really enjoy fiction, but also business books, self-improvement and lectures.
Good story. way more creepy than the movie.
the performance was also good.
a four is not a knock on it. Rather, 5 stars is for few books.
I enjoyed this book a lot. it's early King and has it's own flavor.
Great story, excellent writing, and a fabulous narrator ! Skip the movie and listen to the book. Stephen King is is a wonderful, discriptive storyteller. This one has all his trademarks, horror, gore, and great characters. Great audio book !
