A must read for all creative people. This should be taught in all creative schools
I downloaded this when it first came out and frankly wrote one of the original scathing reviews which have been deleted. All of the reviews were fairly similar, absolutely great content, but a poor narrator ruined it.
This version has been re-recorded with a new narrator! Awesome book!
Highly recommend this book if you consider yourself a creative or someone that has tons of great ideas and not as many results. Make sure you follow the links to the other Behance sites and conferences.
I'm a big fan of Non-Fiction, mostly business, marketing, and self-help. I really like books that tell you both why AND how to do something.
If you're a right-brained creative who struggles with productivity and project management, then you'll really get a lot out of this book!
Scott Belsky does not really break new ground with any of the concepts in this book, but he does put the popular ideas and techniques into strategies and techniques that work for creatives and creative teams.
Scott really identifies with the struggles that artists, designers, writers, etc. face with getting things done. He takes the concepts that you may have already heard about or learned from David Allen's "Getting Things Done" and makes them really work for this type of industry mindset.
I got so much out of the audiobook that I went out and purchased the physical book as well to use as a quick reference and reminder, which I refer to frequently when I start to feel overwhelmed. The "Action Method" introduced in the book is applicable not only in how I organize my projects and tasks, but also in how I organize my files and other resources.
Where David Allen's GTD leaves the productivity management concepts relatively broad, Scott Belsky fine tunes and sharpens those concepts for creative professionals in a very effective way!
Anyone who wants to learn about different ways of making todo lists
I don't know where to begin. All i heard after 3 hours was managing a todo list. It would have been acceptable to me if he talked about todo lists for half an hour. But it just goes on and on. There's gotta be more to making visions come to reality than managing a todo list.
I don't have any issue with the narrator
Just felt like I wasted a precious audible credit :(
take it from me folks, keep a todo list, and your vision will come to reality. Now listen to something else :)
I listen in streaks. Glad I can keep those credits accumulating for a few months.
I really found this book helpful in creative problem solving and learning about the self-defeating "goal setting" practices that I had been using. It definitely has some approaches that you can start adopting right away without throwing whatever systems you have now out the window. Highly recommend. I read it awhile ago and am already thinking about reading it again.
The book is well written and the ides are easy to understand. Unfortunately, I've heard Mr. Hagen read fiction before and I think he does a much better job of that. It's a little easy to get lost when he's reading a business book and I kept having to rewind and listen to sections over again.
Working on "me" version 2.0, love the idea of audible books to expand my mind while driving, biking, or hanging out! Onward and upward!!
Listening to teaching books to me is easier and help me learn better on the subject. This book does not feel like a study guide but more like a coaching session from a high powered business coach.
Well laid out to build ideas, author was good at the process of problem-why the problem- soluction -action steps
NA this is a teaching book
Great listen/read for anyone who wants to learn to put ideas to action.
business books fan
i pick this book by the title, not knowing really what was in it.
to my surprise i was infront of research about creativity and entrepreneurship all what i trully enjoy and love, the book is about how to get the ball rolling, and how to get things in action for creative people. a must read
I listen to learn... I learn to achieve!
Nothing really stands out in this book in terms of concepts and mind stimulation. It does, however, put a process in place to take an idea from its conception to the actual execution that returns a result. This in itself is great value!
