I love to read and listen to erotica all types and paranormal vamps and shifters
This was a really good book and although this is book two of this series I like it. Dante a Breed vampire warriors After a brutal attack that leaves him close to death Dante needs blood he gets into a veterinary clinic owned by Tess after he drank from her he realized that she is a breed mate and he has performed half of a bonding ritual that will tie them together for eternity. Tess has her own past demons she is a healer, but she hates it because she killed her abusive child rapist step-father. Tess's ex Ben is a drug dealer of crimson a drug that turns young vamps rogue quickly. This was a really good well written (read) as I listened to this book. This book also introduces Chase warrior who has feelings for his dead brothers wife who he knows he will never have her and he is looking for his nephew who has turned rogue. I really love reading a good vampire story and this series so far is pretty good and I am looking forward to reading or listening to the rest of it.
Some narrators perform such that you can tell who is talking by how it's done. This narrator is the same for all the women and men. She did a good job on Gideon, but that's about it.
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Again similar to book one and there are better out there in this genre. Bought this during a "find a new series" sale, but this series is not for me!
Lara Adrian breathes new life to the common vampire lore when she creates a new community/breed of vampires in her Midnight Breed Series. Although the communities are different, Adrian's writing style is very similar to JR Wards style in her series The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Similar premises and notions albeit very different story lines. Basically, if you enjoyed the BDB series, you'll like Adrian's Midnight Bread series also. I would say that Adrian's series is less illicit and more hardcore action/suspense.
The narration was good, although I noticed that Hillary Huber changed Savannah's accent from unaccented in the first book to seriously "southern" in this book. I don't mind because it ensures character distinction, but it was a bit unexpected.
Say something about yourself!
I liked book one but it didn't rock my world, this came a lot closer! The accent for Dante was actually charming, I was afraid I would hate it, but it was really good! The story was more believable than book 1 and the tension and chemistry was wonderful. I would have liked some more hot scenes, since they were few and far between but you'd be surprised how an actual decent plot can make up for that!
Ready for book 3, and very glad I bought this series!
I enjoy reading series and very rarely read stand alone series. I mostly read romance and sci-fi & fantasy.
This is the second installment in the Midnight breed series. And it is a good one. The main part of the story took a while to get to because of all the background information and dealings of the other characters and the lack of communication on both sides as to their motives of being with each other.
But once the action began it never stopped. You get to see how the other couples and warriors are doing in this book. Which in my opinion is a good thing. In many series the other characters become inconsequential and forgotten falling to the way side, but not in this one. You also get to see the breed world through more than just the two main characters eyes.
Even though the beginning of the book is slow and the ending is thrust upon you it is a fantastic read. The series really starts to draw you in. With each book the overall scheme of the mastermind whom, as all masterminds want to do "take over the world" gets rolling.
In this book the warriors are put in an untenable situation, save one and risk others or keep the breed population fearing them? What ever choice they make someone will suffer for it. It is a great book and one that I'm happy to have read.
I have only listened to the series!
Nothing compares this is a great series!
Couldnt wait to purchase the next book in the series
I even have a coworker listened and using audible now...
An avid audible book listener!
Not only is the performance done well, but the actual development of the story keeps the reader interested. Surprising is how well a female performer can handle the storyline consisting of mostly male characters.
After listening to this story, I immediately wanted to listen to #3. I would have no problem listening to this series again!
There's a point in the story when the male lead character realizes something very important and makes a life altering decision that results in another life altering decision from the female lead. Don't want to give it away, but it was poignant.
The ending of this book compels you read on as it only reinforces the connection between the reader/listener and the captivating characters created in the series.
This is the book #2 for the Midnight Breed series.
What I liked about this story is we could jump right into the ongoing battle between the Breed Warriors and the Rogues, except now the focus is on Dante and Tess. And what a story they have to share. Dante is the fierce Italian warrior that fights his future. Tess is a breed mate veterinarian, running from her past. She is forced into this dark world without choice. Their story is raw and emotional, laced with intimate moments that suck you in. They both try to fight their destiny but the pull they have to each other in undeniably strong.
We are also introduced to another vampire, Sterling Chase. He is from the Dark havens, a place where the breed and their mates call home, hidden from the human word. We find out the Dark haven vampires believe the warriors are vigilantes and yet, he reached out and asks the warriors to help him. Sterling struggles with his own demons, he has desires that he cannot act upon. In the end, this vampire is still searching to find his purpose. I suspect this is not the last we see or hear of Sterling Chase.
Again, the audio version was well narrated. Dante’s voice rolls off her tongue and I can just picture this Italian warrior standing before me. Her female voices improved with this story, finding definite variations for the various breed mates that fit them perfectly.
I am hooked on this series. This world is addictive and I find myself sucked in to warriors fight. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is a great listen but the author seems to have been rushed with her ending.
Reminded me of JR Ward.
Worth a credit.
