This made me laugh until I was crying
I did and I have listened to it over and over again.
His dad is honest in his every day comments and clearly tries to give his sons good advice but it's the words and the combinations of words that he chooses to get his point across that are so hillarious! He definately has a dirty mouth but you get past that and he's still funny. I laughed out loud more than once for sure!
Everyone knows someone like this; the guy with a no-holds-barred attitude towards rearing children. I've even met a few well educated people with as foul or fouler mouths than that of the author's father. It's the little tidbits of wisdom that come through hysterically. You think to yourself,"Exactly! I couldn't have put it better myself, " several times.
My two complaints are that the father's voice sounds like it comes from Brooklyn instead of the Midwest and that it was so short.
I Luv Audible!!
Justin dad has some very interesting interpretation of issues. Reminds me of my dad. Good listen and the narrator was good
I like all the quotes between chapters. They are hilarious! It was a LMFAO read and worth every penny.
The new book in the series I suck at girls is just as good if not better.
It needed to be more upbeat and emotional.
The whole book moved me but the quotes were the best part.
If you like the twitter feed or if you liked the TV show then you will like this book.
FYI - this book contains adult language. That is the only thing that prevents me from saying that it wouldn't be suitable for all audiences. Other than that - its hilarious. We all know someone like Mr. Halpern - he wears his opinions on his sleeve and thats the end of it. Don't like it - tough. The thing is - no one dares to disagree with him since the simple raw audacity to say some of these thoughts leaves others caught off guard.
In short - if you liked the preview or are a fan of the twitter stream - buy this book. Personally, the audio version is more like a performance than a book, and it really comes to life when listened to.
All of em. As a kid, I watched Dragon Ball Z ... 20 times over - and Sean Schemmel was Goku, the main character. To find out that he was the narrator was enough for me to get the book. He does great voices for all the characters. You can hear a little bit of Goku in this narration. Too bad he didn't do a Kamehameha! Hahaha
Yep. I was on a flight.
Please do more real books Sean! No more kids books... as those are the only other books you've been narrating. :(
Perhaps, given the title, I should have expected the language to be crude but I was not prepared for how crude the book was. I gave up after about half an hour of listening and finding nothing particularly amusing.
To answer the question of if I had to use 3 words to describe the book, they would be: Funny as Sh*t!
Dad. The reason being is that albeit very educated, Dad is very down to earth, extremely loving and protecting of his family and very very funny!
Again Dad, the rendition was akin to a curmudgen but I could relate, my Dad too had a lot of good sh*t in the way of advice to offer, which has turned out to be sage.
