HATE spoilers! Enjoy HOT, sexy books. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. Running out this type Audible-so on2 lighter romance/mystery :-(
The plot was interesting - the opening scene was dark & disturbing; a family getting thrown out of their home, which is needed to tell the rest of the story.
I would make the female lead stronger
I have not so I cannot compare, but I enjoyed her performance.
Some strong language and adult themes.
Yes. Its an emotional story though which the characters grow and develop and change their mind set.
The most memorable part, which is referred to on several occasions is where the family are evicted from their house.
No, but I enjoyed her performance and will certainly keep an eye out for more.
Life changes in the blink on an eye.
Powerful story by Linda Howard, beautifully narrated by Natalie Ross.
I just love reading this book or should I say listen :) (Audiobook). Could not put it down it had a little of everything..that at times it brought tears to my eye. This is a must read.
I never saw it coming...I never saw the solution to the conflict between the characters...Didn't not expect the passion to rise to such a pitch.
Good job with the male characters...
Can passion overcome your perception of your childhood history and leave you in a better place? I guess anything is possible and that makes me not only hopeful but happy.
I have read other Linda Howard novels and enjoyed the tension and mystery she created. This book was a complete miss. The reader seemed one dimensional.
Her male/female voices were hard to distinguish from, so I found it difficult to know who was speaking.
Both the lead male and female. Neither was likeable or interesting or even believable.
Try a different Linda Howard, she has much better work.
Good story line.
How strong and determine Faith is. She determined to make it and would to not allow the judgement of others deter her.
Natalie is an awesome narrator.
I thought the ending was shocking.
Another great story by Linda Howard. Well worth the read. So many elements...mystery, sex, betrayal, love. All put together into another great novel.
Easy Breezy! Not like whimsical or fun but more easy and carefree. I was smack dap in middle of listening to Middlesex which is fine literary craftsmenship, and in no way is this that. But Middlesex is sort of ..... lets say...heavy. It requires absolute engagement and after 3 weeks of intense listening I needed a breather. A quickie. A sprint not a journey. After the Night provided just that. It had all the makings for a good "quickie"....rounded characters, sufficent background info, romance, mystery and climax. It's pretty pridictable, but aren't most quickies? It's the ride to the end that makes it fun. This is only my second listen by Linda Howard, and she's a keeper when my only requirement is to be entertained.
Compelling story line
Faith was my favorite because she was so strong in spite of her background and in spite of having this feeling of having the whole town against her. There were moments where I was thinking, "why do you even care about these people? why would you want to live there anyway?" but overall I was convinced of the reasonableness of her motivations and impressed with her character and strength.
