Could have been a good story except for the gratuitous and repetitive sex scenes. I started fast forwarding to try to get to the real story. I get it the main characters are hot for each other..............I'm no prude but enough already. Narrator did a great job.
I have read other Linda Howard novels and enjoyed the tension and mystery she created. This book was a complete miss. The reader seemed one dimensional.
Her male/female voices were hard to distinguish from, so I found it difficult to know who was speaking.
Both the lead male and female. Neither was likeable or interesting or even believable.
Try a different Linda Howard, she has much better work.
Suspense, Sex, Sensational!
The resturant scene in New Orleans...Hot
Everything, She's Fabulous
They whole thing was a great move!
Natalie Ross read a really good book and made it great. Her accents are just so smooth and vaguely barely there. Her male voices are believeable which isn't always the case. I bought this book because Linda Howard stated it was her favorite and I now know why.
The book is meant for the romance reader only. Mindless sexual tension seemed to be the only theme
There was no story. I started out loving the characters and their development. After the first hour or so of listsning it went nowhere except...the bedroom, the porch, the pier, the boathouse, the new house, the summer house, a street corner, and anywhere else imaginable for a sexual encounter. There was so much potential to the story and to me it felt squandered
I have over 300 books in my library. I am always looking for new authors. I tried this and another Lisa Howard book because I liked some of the reviews and had not read any of her books yet. If you like mindless sex encounters these would probably be right up your alley. As for me I like a quality story that includes the sexual issues where appropriate and within reason. I am done with Linda Howard I guess.
A book I couldn't put down. Of course since I am in Houston, the fact that the setting is in and around here was nice. I just loved the fact that Faith made something of herself and was smart enough to know what to do to protect herself and her assets.
This is my second Linda Howard and it won't be my last.
Love the joking at the end, I have even shared it with friends.
I love books, it's my great escape.
This book was totally hot! I see why Gray is one of the author’s favorite characters. I will never think of a bathroom in the court house or a message the same way again with out blushing. Natalie Ross also did an excellent job as the narrator.
Except for Faith and Gray there was very little character build up with the other subjects in this book. Also a lot of the things that happened in the book were unrealistic, like the swim under the dock. The love making was brutal and again unreal especially the public restroom episode.
This was my first Howard book and not sure if I will buy another one unless it's on a very good sale. I had read what the other reviewers wrote and thought I'd give it a shot. I was able to finish the book but was disappointed that I figured out the "who done it" so quickly and how corny and predictable it was. Hate to be so contrary to the other reviewers who loved it, but I have listened to over 200 other books in the category and this was very mediocre at best.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
N.R. makes our hero, come to life and it is a hot story with a mystery. Not erotica but good writing at it's best. This is my all time favorite listen. Enjoy it as much as I have.
