This was a light and easy listening experience with a bit of romance, a bit of suspense and a bit of history thrown in. I thought the narrator did a fine job reading this book.
1) The secondary Charcters are very very flat - like the bad Stepmother does not really DO much bad of anything appart from some very minor nastities in the weddig event
The rest of the book it is often repeated how bad she was an how misarable she made Evelinde all the time but thats it - she is the bad stepmother and made life miserable - but no explanation how and why.
- The Father and Brother (of Evelinde) are soooo good and honorable men but the father died conveniently very soon - the brother is far away in some war and does not even come for a visit in the book untill the very very end. If a good brother learned that his sister was married to
Yes - i probably will buy the rest of the Highland series at least. The Book is not bad and i do not regret spending my credit on it. I would not buy it for the 25$ (or even more) thats much to expansive in my opinion
I was warned by many reviews about the narrator. Since my native language is german i had some troubles with the pronounciation of some of the words in the beginning but that did not realy bother me much. After i got used to the narrator i had no problems following the story and even if the reading was a bit monotone that did not spoil the audiobook for me. I have listen to much worse narrators (But of course the narrator could have better also)
Very good mystery
Evelinde as she was funny, virtuous, loving
Ms. Palka's voice was not the best. She is at times monotoned and could use some improvement. Accents were alright but again could be improved.
Near the end when all was revealed and why.
Loved the story. Was a good love story along with a great mystery. Who would ever believe the person who was the real culprit. I have read other Lynsay Sands books and believe she is truly a great writer.
Instead of whistling while I work, I listen! I have my audible set up on my phone and comes through my blue tooth. I get so much done!!
I loved this book! The love story is powerful, sweet, and hot! This was worth my credit and I enjoyed the accent of the narrator!
Pacific Northwest Gardener
This was an impulse buy for me and I didn't read the reviews, so it's my own fault.
I LOVE Scottish romances, but this particular story has been done to death, It had some moderately interesting parts, so I will give it 3 stars. But ... the narrator was prettty bad. A wooden and unemotional reading. Could have been the phone book -- totally unengaging. Ended up not finishing the audiobook, but bought a Kindle copy so I could just read it. Two stars for the narrator.
This was a great book to listen to, I didn't want to stop listening. The only thing was the narrarator has one tone, that made it dull. The story was so good that I could over look the dull tone of the narrator.
