I hold Reacher novels to a pretty high standard and I dont think this one did it justice. I found it unbelievable and slow at times. Look foraward to the next one.
The story context is captivating and believable. It was easy to become emotionally attached to the characters. I could actually feel the anguish of being involved in an accident in a cold, cold, remote unknown place. I like that Jack is traveling more, but miss his supporting cast from the earlier novels. Right now he is like the Lone Ranger. He gets the job done, but has to rely on the help of strangers. As the story lengthens, it sometimes becomes difficult to follow. Jack Reacher is a character needing to be put on the big screen (preferable a television series). I can see Kevin Costner or Ben Affleck or Blair Underwood or John Travolta or Liam Nielson playing the role.
I am English married to American. I have Been an RN for 33 years, I work in OR. We have Three children (all grown now).
Again another winner from Lee Child, love this series. Would like to meet Jack Reacher. Dick Hill does a great job as well.
Heart pounding, page turning (you know what I mean), great action, just enough twists that I could hardly wait for the end. Very good audio book!!!!
Audiobooks allow book nerds like me to venture out in public and keep "reading."
It took a long time to get into this Reacher book. I know I've said this before - but the books have kind of gone down hill in the past few years - the cliffhanger ending is EXACTLY what this series needed.
Speaker, Coach, Author - in Reno, NV (A GREAT place!) I've been an avid Audible fan for several years. Listen on my iPhone many hours each week.
I've read or listening to all of the Jack Reacher books. Lee Child is not losing any momentum with this character. This was outstanding in every way and Dick Hill (of course) did a superb job. I love his narrations anyway and he was masterful with 61 Hours.
Probably the worst Reacher novel I have heard. Boring, boring, and boring. Absolutely nothing worth listening to for the first 95% of the book. No Reacher kicking the shit out of smartass drunks, no sex(unless it happened when I could not stand it anymore and fast forwarded to the next chapter. And Dick Hill's narration of parts was just painful to listen to, especially his imitation of women talking.
While most Reacher novels are unusual and interesting, this was just a worthless dud.
