Great, fun story and writing and Kevin's performance is wonderful, but Katherine does the worst shrill, shrieking, fake British accent since Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins". She ruins the whole production. I lasted 3 chapters and gave up.
I thought that the opposing characters were amusing and attention grabbing as well as the plot being surprisingly creative. I will look forward to more from this author :)
As the author writes at the end of the story, most of this is based off of Egyptian lore and myth. A great way to learn about Ancient Egypt and mythology in a fun, entertaining way. I strongly encourage this title.
Narration is strong. Some voices are a bit painful, such as Bastet, but overall good performance.
I liked the book, the facts and info about Egyptian mythology were interesting. The book is written more for younger readers 12-14 but was still funny and entertaining for an adult. I think I will continue the series.
Exciting Fun History. This book is great...the story is fun and fast-paced. My kids loved it and so did I. As a parent, I really loved it because my kids learned Egyptian history and mythology without knowing it...and so did I--I found myself constantly looking up different things about Ancient Egypt on Wikipedia while reading this book. I followed-up this up with a trip to the Ancient Egypt section of the Field Museum in Chicago--it really made the museum come alive. While certainly not a textbook, there was enough history mixed in for this to be much more than just another mindless kid book. I highly recommend it.
I love Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series, so I thought I would check out this series too, and he doesn't disappoint. He brings the same humor, creativity, and heart to his Egyptian series as well. The narrators did a great job, they were very entertaining. I enjoyed this audiobook!
