Variety in voice and inflection bring the characters to life. The whole family 11, 13, and "older" enjoyed it!
Rick Riordan is a great author, his stories are wonderful. The only thing I dislike about this story is that Sadie is only 12, she acts much more like an older girl. I also love that I know so much more about Egypts gods and how the Egyptians believed they existed. The thing that really makes this book stand out though is the performances. I love that they have 2 narrators a male and female. The performers are wonderful and make it easy to listen to the book. Compared to the Heros of Olympus these narrators are so much better.
I had to stop listening because the narrators are terrible... I love the story, but not the audio book.
Maybe, but probably not.
Without a doubt. I've struggled to get my son to read each night, and this has created quite a wonderful bartering tool. A little "regular" reading, and then we get to listen to the Kane Chronicles. I think he's listened to the entire set at least 3 times now, and keeps asking if another will be coming out.
I love both of the Kane kids, their humor is my cup of tea, but all of the supporting characters added so much.
They nailed it, what more can I say? Katherine gets a little loud at times, but they are supposed to be in the midst of chaos, so I suppose that is to be expected.
You simply can't go wrong with a Rick Riordan book.
I have read the Percy Jackson books and enjoyed them. This book was not as good as his other series and tended to get caught up explaining too many details.
This was one of the worst performances I have encountered with audible. I listen to audio during my drive to work and there were several times I almost returned the audio and grabbed a copy of the book from my kids to finish the story. I played some of the audio to my kids who are big Riordan fans and they could not believe how bad it was.
the story was fine, and would not cut any characters.
The story is worth reading, however it is difficult to finish due to the really bad performance of the narrators.
I love this book and the series! This was my first introduction into the Rick Riordan books, and I am so glad that I did. I was first introduced to The Red Pyramid through Audible’s Deal of the Day email and I decided to take a chance for $2.95. I am so glad that I did! I was hooked from the very beginning.
The book’s classification is Young Adult, but it is enjoyable for kids and adults alike. The narration is wonderful and is probably one of the best narrations I’ve ever heard. This book was written to be read out-loud and the narration does this book justice! Both narrators really make the characters come alive.
The story is about Carter and Sadie Kane, and their quest to save their father who is a really a magician. They learn that they are not only magic is real, but also that they are magicians and that the ancient Egyptians god and goddess are real and still around! It is a story full of adventure and fun. I’ve listened to all 3 some many times that I could basically quote them from memory! If you like stories of magic and fantasy that has really good characters, I would give this series a go. You won’t be sorry!
Yes. Over and over and over again!
I'm a caffeine zombie suffering from constant book hangovers.
Not only does the red pyramid focus on the basics of traditional fables and legends of Egyptian mythology, but also includes some of the more glossed over deities that I was delighted to notice got some favorable mentions.
Sadie Kane is my fave character not only does her personality continue to deepen throughout the series and gain more dimension she carries enough sass and attitude to match her outfit complete with a pair of combat boots that she wears everyday and a streak of color through her hair.
Katherine Kellgren's voice is one the best I have heard through the audiobook world. in regards to character of Sadie Kane it's as if the emotions of her are being felt through what she is saying and what Kellgren brings to the table as the voice of Sadie Kane in particular and her portrayal of her is over the top as far as performance is concerned.
I had a hard time putting this book down!
I enjoyed this book looking forward to the next one in the series. the book keep me interested. very well written
the way they learned to work together even though they really did not no each other. and they actually enjoyed there new powers and keep each other in check
they brought a lot of life to the book! They seem to work together very well, and sounds like they had fun while working ! I think that these two can be a winning combination at probally any book they work together on
Red Pyramid and yes this could make a good SiFi movie or mini series
Tell us about yourself!Grandmother, 18 years military service, 100 % disabled, love to listen to audio books while - crafting - fishing - riding. SCI-FI / FANTASY
different female narrator.
Kellgren was awful. I could only take about 15 mins of her at a time.
anger, disappointment !!
Could be a great story, but i will never know. I can not listen to Kellgren's voice, attitude, her whole performance.
Children. If you're over 15 don't bother.
characters are too obnoxious!
voice was so distracting I couldn't finish the story
