OMG!!!!!! - the build up in the previous books for John Matthew's story was big and hard to believe it could be lived up to, but J. R. Ward did it and it lived up to all you could want it to be. That boy is sex on a stick - yum, yum, yum!
Let me first say that I was a HUGE fan of BDB before "Avenged." "Avenged" just seemed a little too sappy for me and "Mine" has followed right in its footsteps. Aside from the multiple plots (some of which didn't go anywhere, i.e. the haunted house, huh) between Quinn being completely out of character with Blaylock and Ward's attempt to sound cool by overdoing the slang that originally attracted me to this series, it took me FOREVER to get through this book. I don't discount the fact that it may have been Jim Frangione's narrating skills being completely unsuitable for this series. Frangione is a great narrator but not for the BDB. I even bought Vishous' story on sale (which I absolutely loved when I read) and didn't enjoy it because of Frangione. I think I'll wait to read Payne's story. Luckily I read a lot or this book may have killed BDB for me. I gave three stars because I see the potential in the written word but not the spoken one this time
Storyline continues, effectively, the BDB series. We needed to see JM get his happy-ever-after. The narrator does a good job as well, but his pronunciations sometimes pull me out of the story. "No'one" is NOT pronounced "no own", it is "no wun"!
Otherwise, not a bad use of credits.
This one is the best of all! I can't stop listening to it. Couldn't believe how well the story developed and how tenderly it all tied together at the end. But, could J.R. Ward please give a break to poor Leila? I think she's going to hook her up with Murder after the Pain novel which comes out mid this year. Well, at least I hope so.
And, all those review who say they were sickened by Quinn and Blay? Boo for you! Love story is a love story. Granted, I am not too sure if I'd like to hear the details in the bed chamber but it is a story worth exploring. Hmmmm, will they ever end up together?
Okay, I love these books. They have so much depth to them. So many paranormal stories are too soft and mushy. The gritty aspects of their lives and the sex is a big plus for me. As far as Lover Mine, I read many of the complaints on Amazon about the the multiple secondary stories and I agree they disrupt the main story here. Aside from that I loved the JM story. I thought it was really a great story about these two characters. I loved how JR Ward exposes their strengths and weaknesses. Really engrossing writing and storytelling. I felt she exposed more of the raw elements of each character and the ending although somewhat out of character for Xhex was satisfyingl. Can't wait to see how Quinn and Blaylock turns out. That secondary story was had a real emotional impact on the reader. All the anguish and torment that some go through when they realize they love someone of the same sex and don't know what to do about it.
JR Ward comes full circle in this installment. Many questions are answered in this sensual exhilarating rollercoaster ride. I feel like an addict waiting for my next fix. Can't wait until book 9 is released in March of 2011! Keep em' coming JR!
Where to start... HOLY HANNA....I cannot begin to praise these books.. The men are strong, sexy, romantic, sensitive, intelligent, and attractive in mind and body. These guys are ready to do anything for their mates. Nothing sexier than a man who is comfortable showing their emotions while still projecting the strength and power that makes them the fantasy of evey female. I am SOOO in love with all of the guys and their women.
With that being said I would like to thank J.R. Ward for her work.. This vampire series is the most compelling series, directed toward adults, I have heard in a long time. I can get enough of the brothers and listen to the books over and over and over again. I cannot wait for the next book.
PLEASE do not change the narrartor, Jim Frangione. He is as much a part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood as the characters themselves.
I cannot wait to see what is going to happen to Payne, Blay, Quinn and Murder. Here's to more BDB books.. Bring them on..
J. R. Ward seems to have a lock on my mind. Have read all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and just want more and more. Jim Frangione keeps me absorbed and deep into the story. Cannot wait for the next book...Who will it be? I really don't care. I know it will be as good read. My treadmill awaits. Everyone at the gym asks how I can be smiling and on the treadmill at the same time. "Covet" by J.R. Ward will also keep you enthralled.
Something about yourself.
I was uncertain about this book because of the characters. I was not sure they would be appealing nor if they could carry a book. Well I waited a while to buy it and I was overjoyed at the outcome. This book is a joy. I loved the beginning middle and the end and the plot twists were so welcome.
This is one of my favorite books, I really like the way she flip the story, in the beginning it was Dauris taking care of Torh and she flip it for Torh now takes care of John who is Dauris reincarnated. We got to see Zhex's beginning and how she brought them all back together in the same situation she left them off in the past. You will not be disappointed. Qhinn and Blay is another story but I did enjoy it.
