I absolutely reccomend it for fans of sherlock holmes and everyone. It is a great deal for one credit. you get so many stories, you never tire of hearing them and the narrator is superb!
I am amazed that Charlton Griffin did not expire giving this performance. It is lengthy, maybe a tad overlong, but an excellent and faithful delivery of the extensive Holme's catalogue. Well worth the effort.
I loved re-entering the World of Sherlock Holmes, and the narrator does a splendid job with different voices for the different characters. Only one point was not perfect - his womens voices are a bit annoying in the long run. But SHerlock and Watson are spot-on!
loved every minute of it. narrator is spot on. going to go for volume 3. love the spooky noises in hound of baskerfield. have read all of sherlocks series but listening to it all again takes it up another level. never change the narrator for these kinds of books. he is to be commended.
Some of the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle I had read as a boy, and many I had seen on TV in the Grenada series, starring Jeremy Brett. This took nothing away from my enjoyment of this series of books, masterfully read and performed by your narrator! I look forward to getting the rest of the series in the coming months. Well done!
Some of the pronunciation of words were a bit off, but the intensity of the stories and build up to to each story climax was magnificent. Different individuals were easily recognized so the plot was easy to follow. Now for book 3
Even though the book was long and had many different stories they were all very good. I can't remember all of them but there are a few which stand out to me.
The plot that stands out to me that kept me on my seat was the story about the husband and wife who were being harassed by an ex lover of the wife and in the end they were both found dead. It may have appeared to be murder but it wasn't only the husband was murdered and the wife committed suicide in order to be with her husband in death..
I like how he did watson.. he is actually one of my favorite characters.
Volume 2, because it is still a bunch of different stories told by watson about his interaction with sherlock. To me I like the volume in the title because I can imagine watson sitting at his deal with a book like a diary and writing all these, so the title works for me.
Narration is clear, easy to understand. Voices are easy to differentiate. Female voices not falsetto.
Sherlock is, in short, brilliant. This collection of stories supports that fact. I downloaded this and could not stop listening to it. I will listen to it again and again and learn something new each time. Doyle's development of his main character and his loyal friend Doctor Watson was, is, and will be unparalleled in police and detective stories.
The narration of Sherlock Holmes stories is absolutely fantastic. Very fun and enjoyable. Holmes becomes a known acquaintance and is quaint and admirable. Watson is a perfect foil and easy to sympathize and identify with. Highly recommended!
