I loved this book. I think I found one to rival, Sarah McCarty's Shadow Reaper Series. I had bones pegged as a bad guy, one to destroy but Jeaniene pulled a fast one on me. His cruel tone slowly turned into respect and caring. I like Cat's uneasiness about what she is and who she is and how she feels about bones. Many other heroines don't take long to realize that the man before them is man of their dreams, she fights the feeling for a long time which sets up their undying romance for future books. I like the clench of failure before the magnificent save. Great up and down rollercoaster ride!
No sense repeating all the rave reviews already posted. All I can say is read em and don't let the few negative negative reviews on the narrators portrayal of Bone's Brittish accent sway you. I'm no expert on accents, but since the character was born in England and also spent time in Australia, his accent could very well be a bit muddled! I think Tavia Gilbert's entire performance is A-#1 BRILLIANT!
I'm a grown up and thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. I read the first two "Twilight" books and found them somewhat entertainingg but too juvenile. The Twilight vamps were just too darn nice! What's the use of being a Vampire if you aren't gonna be "bad" once in awhile?? Cat and Bones and the rest of the Vamps in Frost's books are interesting, funny, charming, and definitely not afraid to be bad when the situation calls for it...
I'm on book 5, can't wait to listen to book 6 and hope book 7 isn't too far off!
P.S. Bones - I think I love you!
Bones, the hitman (hit-vampire?) vampire is great. He is dry and sarcastic and not at all what you would expect from a master vampire. His British accent is just right- it reflects his heritage - who he was before he was turned.
Tavia Gilbert's accents and voices enhance the story, She brings the characters to life and helps you to enjoy their conversations.
I just recently found this series and I am glad I did. I can listen to one right after the other without having to wait for the next book to be written! These are fun books to listen to despite their graphic nature.
Tavia Gilbert brings the characters to life! I laugh, I cry, every emotion you can think of...
I loved every single moment of this audio book. I'm listening to them all now and they just keep getting better and better! Love all the characters and the narrator is the best I've listened to, and I have been listening to a ton of audio books!
I was a little skeptical at first thinking the storyline was going to be a little too Twilight-ish but I was wrong. Yes, there are vampires and it has male vampire meets female, but other than that similarity, the storyline is different and engrossing and I was surprised how quickly I got into the story and couldn't wait to take a break to listen to what happens next. The narrator is phenomenal and has been put into my list of favorite narrators such as Jim Dale, Ilyana Kadushin and Alan Rickman. The language is strong, at least for me, but that's because I simply don't use foul language, not that I don't hear others use it, and I do not offend easily, but if that is a deal breaker, you might want to be prepared. I think this is a good story and a very good narrator, when you couple these two together, it becomes a phenomenal listen.
Book not the audio
Didn't like the way it was read or how she did the accents.
It was hard for me to listen since I didn't click with the narrator. Amazing what a difference that makes.
Warning, this book is not for the faint of heart when it comes to “adult language and situations” but then again it was not meant to be. It has a small taste of teenage vampire fantasy but it is all grown-up, in a good way. The sexual tension between the main characters tends to leave you wanting more, just like it should and the trill of the hunt in the action is good as well. Tavia is still feeling the character out in this 1st book, but she quickly becomes one with her and brings her to vivid life. All in all, if you love good suspenseful action and a strong and sexy kickass heroine, well it’s a GREAT start to an even better series.
I really enjoyed Tavia Gilbert "british" accent when voicing Bones!
Every scene that Tavia voices Bones.
I love Bones
Yes and she engages you from the start and also gives you humor ! I don't agree with some of the readers, her accent for bones is great! He's not present day English it was over 600 years ago and anyone whose read or seen some of the movies of long ago you would realize she is right on. I hope she continues to read for Ms. Frost I give her 10!
i LAUGHED AND CRIED IT WAS EMOTIONALLY ENGAGING. I read in one day, I couldn't put it down.
Proud book worm!
I loved all of it! Ms. Frost has an amazing knack for story telling!!!
Bones! He's got a sexy British accent and a naughty side that you can't help but to smile over.
Tavia as always brings the story to life and every character their own essence!
The story totally sucked me in!
I've ready the whole series and love each and every book in it! To really understand what is going on, one really needs to read this series from the beginning...which is this book! I very much recommend it. Very delightful, witty and interesting!
