This is the first romance book I have read and I have to say it has made me want to explore the genre more. The British accent bothered me a bit at the beginning, but after awhile when the character really started to develop I started to enjoy when I would hear that person come into the scene. The swearing is still a little annoying for me but it's nothing that ruins the story. I read this book in 4 days, I just couldn't put it down unless I absolutely had to. I have since purchased the rest of the books in the series as well as gone to Jeaniene's website to see the "reading order" of her books. She has definitely made my list of favorite authors. Tavia does a superb job of reading, she has a broad range of voices which capture each character very well.
Yes! Listening to this book prompted me to look into and purchase the rest of the books in the series, and then the rest by the author based in this world of Cat and Bones!
The creativity and I loved its set up for the rest of the series
Tell us about yourself!
The story kept my attention I didnt get bored
she separates the characters very well
Love the fact it's sexy and adventurous without being overly raunchy.
When Bones proclaims his true feelings
Yes but Bones came across sounding like Russell Brand. Not how wanted to envision his character.... that was disappointing and couldn't get past that mental picture. :(
I found myself laughing outloud
Yes. I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters.
The sexual tension and desire shared between the characters, was electric!
The interrogation at the beginning of the book. The name calling was quite inventive and humorous.
Not just another tramp vamp!
The tittle of the book doesn't do the book any justice, if you were to judge a book by its cover it could easily be overlooked. it was due to an earlier positive revue that I chose the book, and I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it, It drew me in and left me wanting more!
If you want a good listen, try this one. Jeaniene Frost offers an intelligent new spin on the usual vampire story and Tavia Gilbert does a great job narrating. I enjoyed the first book so much I just bought books II and III which is saying a lot about how much I enjoyed the first book in the series and wanted the fun to continue.
I've not read the original print version but I do think I would have emagined the English accent to be differant than how it was in the audio version of this series. It was a bit anoying and realy didn't fit the character. Other than that the narrator did an awsome job.
I think Tavia's performance of Cat was right on!
I purchased this entire series because it was part of a 3 for 2 special. I got the first 3 and after I finished listening to the first one I came back and purchased the last 3 before the promo ended. I have to say once I started I couldn't stop. I listened to all 6 of theese books back to back one right after the other. I almost didn't purchace these because of one long winded negitive review. All I can say is the guy that wrote it doesn't know much about women of any age. If you have read that review and it kept you from this series please give it a try. This was exciting, charming, sexy and dangerous all at the same time.
I loved this book. I think I found one to rival, Sarah McCarty's Shadow Reaper Series. I had bones pegged as a bad guy, one to destroy but Jeaniene pulled a fast one on me. His cruel tone slowly turned into respect and caring. I like Cat's uneasiness about what she is and who she is and how she feels about bones. Many other heroines don't take long to realize that the man before them is man of their dreams, she fights the feeling for a long time which sets up their undying romance for future books. I like the clench of failure before the magnificent save. Great up and down rollercoaster ride!
No sense repeating all the rave reviews already posted. All I can say is read em and don't let the few negative negative reviews on the narrators portrayal of Bone's Brittish accent sway you. I'm no expert on accents, but since the character was born in England and also spent time in Australia, his accent could very well be a bit muddled! I think Tavia Gilbert's entire performance is A-#1 BRILLIANT!
I'm a grown up and thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. I read the first two "Twilight" books and found them somewhat entertainingg but too juvenile. The Twilight vamps were just too darn nice! What's the use of being a Vampire if you aren't gonna be "bad" once in awhile?? Cat and Bones and the rest of the Vamps in Frost's books are interesting, funny, charming, and definitely not afraid to be bad when the situation calls for it...
I'm on book 5, can't wait to listen to book 6 and hope book 7 isn't too far off!
P.S. Bones - I think I love you!
Bones, the hitman (hit-vampire?) vampire is great. He is dry and sarcastic and not at all what you would expect from a master vampire. His British accent is just right- it reflects his heritage - who he was before he was turned.
Tavia Gilbert's accents and voices enhance the story, She brings the characters to life and helps you to enjoy their conversations.
I just recently found this series and I am glad I did. I can listen to one right after the other without having to wait for the next book to be written! These are fun books to listen to despite their graphic nature.
