Coffee and a Book Chick
I am not kidding when I tell you that Steven Weber is incredible in this epic tale from Stephen King. This story is about so much more than a clown, so please do yourself a favor and download this. I have never listened to an audiobook more than 15 hours, so 44 hours sounds daunting, but it is well worth it and flies by with Weber at the helm of King's powerful story of childhood friends overcoming their own personal battles and one incredibly hellish evil. Download this, trust me. It's the best audiobook I have ever listened to.
There was a lot of violence and disturbing parts with homosexual issues. I couldn't finish the book.
absolutely. I love his books.
He has a great voice- very calm
The first 2 chapters hooked me
It's my first Stephen King book, and I did not enjoyed it much. There's way too much unnecessary details, as it extending for the only fact of making a long story even longer.
Not a bad story, but I can think of many books that would be a better investment.
What I truly enjoyed was the parts about these kinds wonderful friendship. And the one that I truly disliked was kids having sex... and by the way it even seemed out of context, there was nothing that suggested that could happen; and there it was, with disturbing details and with no repercussion whatsoever on the rest of the book. I even thought about stopping the book, however after 20and some invested hours, I decided to finish it... Just glad it's over. Narration has a lot of emotion, a few times a little too much yelling, but the book called for it; I guess narration was the part that kept me going until the end.
it went on and on and on, i couldnt wait for it to end
I am a D-Bag.
Yeah well I'll start with the good side of the book. Stephen King does a great job juggling tons of characters at once. Often the backstories of the characters are more interesting then main plot but thrown together and after many many hours they come together to make an interesting story.
Now the bad part, its to long, the narrator is over dramatic, and well there is the CHILD PORN. Did this really get published? There is about twenty minutes of the book that should break several laws. No one should NEVER wright about eleven year old childrens sexual expliots. Does eleven year olds even have sexual expliots. The very worst part of this is, the Child Porn does not even have anything to do with the story. Its like King just wrote the epic novel and then said mmmm.... something is missing. Oh, I know, I to need add a eleven year old gang bang scene. Sick.
I really enjoy most of this book but I just couldn't get over the CHILD PORN!!!!!!!!!!
This has to be one of the best horror stories ever written. Sleep with the lights on.
Thanks Mr. King and Mr. Weber.
The narrator does an awsome job on this book. Giving each character....."Character". His high energy and zeal takes an already great book and brings it to life. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone.
I think all you need to think about is that it's Stephen King. If you are a Stephen King lover then you will love 'It"
Wonderful blending of the past and the present timelines in this wonderfully disturbing book!
I really enjoyed the story and was impressed by the close adaptation of the tv series considering the limitations hindering such a production.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: I am absolutely in awe of Steven Weber's reading skills. His voices and inflections and overall verbal interpretation of this epic novel have truly revealed his versatility to me. I would give the book four stars because it gets a little to "out there" towards the end (just a little), but the quality of this performance has boosted it to the big five.
I moved on to The Shining and must say that Campbell Scott is very very good as well. Just a recommendation.
