The story does tend to lag in places. However, I found it to be quite enjoyable. It could use a bit more hawtness but the story makes up for some of what is missing. I will be getting the next one.
Book 2. Ah, come on. Lost in the woods!!?? Come on boys. Where's the crazy murder investigation a' la book 1?
This story actually made me like 'Cut & Run' more. Unlike the first in the series, this book had absolutely ZERO plot. I did like the page time some new characters got. But let's face it, Ty and Zane's relationship didn't move forward at all. If this is the constant struggle of the series where No one can say "those 3 words" than it's going to get pretty exhausting.
I hate to say this but... I wish the writing matched how much I enjoy the main characters. I could be convinced to read book 3... but so many things need to happen.
And I can't deal with the almost "off page" romance. Ty and Zane's love is portrayed at explosive, and it's just not written on page as such. And while one tedious scene in the woods was quite nice, it does not an m/m book make.
Sawyer Allerde's Ty just does not match up to the Ty in my head. And now with Ty's brother having the same goofy voice, it's even more off putting.
I will probably move on with the series in audio format, especially since there is a new narrator in upcoming books.
2 1/2 stars.
🌺 Lover of Amazing Stories 🌺
I still can't believe how much I love this series. And for some reason the 2nd time around is just as good as the first, maybe even better because I know how deeply Zane and Ty care for each other.
I forgot how emotionally charged this story was for Ty and Zane because they are still building their relationship on trust, kick a$$ action, and a mutual grudging respect for each other.
There is always so much action when these two are together and they are funny as hell!
Definitely in my top 5 mm romance action reads or audio! 💖
I don't know about better, but it was great to be able to work and listen and still follow the story so easily.
Love the guys and the storyline and the laughter and just all of it.
Yes, would in a heartbeat
No it not my type. Just picked wrong cagatory.
I don't like action sfories.
This series is a standout, not only in the m/m genre but in romance as a whole. My only problem with the series is that the last few aren't available on Audible. No reader of romance can go wrong in buying every book in this series. Compelling relationship, intriguing mystery, excellent sex. Not sure what more I can ask for here.
I wouldn't recommend if he didn't want to fall in love with the characters and get addicted to the series. I would tell him to start with the first book. This 3rd installment is an introduction to Ty's family, the idiosyncrasies of its members and explains how Ty grew up to the person he was. This is the book where they finally accepted the reality of how much they mean to each other.
I love both Zane and Ty but my favorite parts were the psychoanalysis of Zane by Deuce .
He got Ty pretty much as I imagined the character.
When Ty finally thought to himself that he was in love with Zane.
I was greatly disappointed that Sawyer Allerde didn't continue on narrating to the remainder of the series. I got used to his performance and he suited the character of Zane and Ty very well.
oh, in my book about an 8. I paid money for it and would listen to it again, so it was pretty good.
I really enjoy the wit of the characters the most. How Ty's brother calls him "meow mix" after he is attacked by a mountain lion. just family type banter, makes it seem so real life and not so much a story.
I swear who picks the narrators? I just knew he was gonna say "hey bo bo lets go get some pick in nick baskets" LOL ROTFL Then he has a "jimmy stewart" voice, I nearly cracked up getting used to it in the first book and it wasnt any better in this one. If you can get past that, you have a really good book with a nice story to it. Id read more by these authors, and hope they keep the NEW narrator as in the 3rd book and keep getting the rest of this series. I dont want to miss anything. I checked their web site and there is 2 more books so far in the series.
Zane definitely, yeah, I like the bad boy type. But then again I dig men in uniform too, so Ty would be next. With their proclivities, we could just have a 3-some, they have both done women before. Hmmmmmm sounds yummy, I guess I could just watch........yep sick but hey Im way to straight and my real life ex ....he has a husband now.....and I have a new husband, and think that my ex's man is hot. (he likes bad boys too, no wonder we stayed friends for the past 21 yrs of our divorce)
Laugh at the narrator, block him as best you can and enjoy the story, it really is good and worth the money or credit, but you must like M/M or this book is not for you. The third book is good and the narrator is really good. C'mon, you can make it, you know you want to.
Wry, masculine, entertaining
The Body by Stephen King because of the camping and dead people. Also Brokeback Mountain because of all the camping and ruggedness.
I think he does Zane the best, most of the characters are performed well.
*Small spoiler alert* The "I love you" moment.
Great listen, shorter in length than the first book, but still with a lot of detail.
