I really enjoyed this book and realized that I had actually read it many years ago. I really liked all the main characters, the narration, and the concept of the story. It was laid out perfectly, and an easy 5* star for me.
I am an avid reader and have been for years. I love books from various genres and have read many bestsellers by popular modern authors including books by authors from this genre (Grisham, Patterson, etc.). Having said that, this book contains multiple gratuitous depraved sex acts described in morbid detail. I got half way through the book and finally decided to throw in the towel after listening to a disgusting, debased, violent male prison sex scene. A total waste of a credit for me.
Lack of redeeming value of any of the characters and gratuitous sex scenes.
I enjoyed the delivery of the reader, which added to the story.
The plot was great, even though I saw the movie years ago.
Could not put this one down. Had no idea of what was going to come out of the story next. You will love this book.....
I was so surprised by who was involved with the murder.
this was my first listen and it was a great performance.
Yes. I missed lots of sleep over this one.
I couldn't put it down.... I loved the ending. Mystery..... suspense..... artistically written. I was inspired to try more books by the same author.
Yes, just to catch the parts that I may have missed.
I suppose a male voice...he's a good narrator.
Yes, but I don't want to say as I'm afraid it will give away the story for other readers.
Great book...a must read
didn't see it coming. (OK that's 4)
Yes! I loved the fact that the victim and the suspect were both deeply flawed characters.
Yes and he's one of my favorite narrators. In fact, I sometimes am not familiar with the book but choose it because he narrates it.
I did not realize that this book was written so long ago. I also did not know that it was made into a movie a few years after the book was written. I will be renting the movie, for sure. This book was a little slow in some areas, but overall it was a good read and a good story. I will be checking out Scott Turow's other books.
This is my first listen of Scott Turow, and I'm looking forward to another.
The narrator was an excellent choice, and I am very picky about narrators. I don't believe I've listened to Edward Hermann before, but he was very good.
It's very important to listen to the details in the first couple of hours because this information is important later in the book. Also, if you're not paying attention (I listen while driving to work) the scenes change.
The story line and characters are wonderful. The best legal thriller I've listened to in a while. You won't be disappointed.
yes, distracting story.
no... but kept me listening. Voice got repetitive, not much inflection.
just wait .....
