It's a great book. Great story, beautiful, romantic, exciting, lovable and intriguing charactes...
Tuff one...... There are many.
She's makes a very believable Mercy!
When Ariana meets Samuel again.
I am big into reading about paranormal societies but the Briggs books develop the social structure and expectations for the various paranormal societies like none of the other books in the category. In this book Mercy needs to understand the dynamic of the pack and she must also understand how to deal with the Fae to keep herself and her friends alive and unharmed. For instance, the Fae do not lie but the word games they play can have devastating results if the bargain is not carefully constructed.
Ms. Briggs’ books are the best in the genre I have read lately. The characters are beginning to feel like old friends. Every time I finish one of Ms. Briggs’ books, I cannot wait for the next adventure. I love this series. The books are quick reads and action packed. I order the next in the series before I finish the one I am half way through. I wouldn’t want to miss anything. (-;
I am an avid listener. I listen between 75-100 hours per month on my iPhone: 60% fiction to 40% non-fiction.
Briggs brings another supernatural thriller to market with this fifth installment in the Mercy Thompson series. One of the great things about this series, Mercedes continues to grow and deepen. This falls in the YA camp. This plot has a nice set of twists. Now that Mercedes has declared her mate, this novel helps clarify the relationships.
Lolelei King does an outstanding job in narration adding to the delivery. I really think this is a great series. Sure, there is supernatural, and some of my followers don't like that so much (you know who you are) but the supernatural is not the main focus. I recommend the book and there series.
So far this book is my favorite in the Mercy Thompson Series. It was just so enjoyable. As always there were multiple storylines ...problems with Samuel...dates with Adam as their relationship develops...an angry fae...a really old fae that is a blast from someone's past...murder...attempted murder...some really intense werewolf fights...magic....mayhem...a couple of budding romances and so much more!..thank you again Ms. King for an awesome narration!
I missed Stephan in this book and I am hoping that the next book is more about Mercy, the Werewolves and Vampires and less about the fae which are the main focus in this book.
The Samuel plot was interesting, but resolved to quickly and easily.
The series is usually pretty action packed and the stories are very well thought out and sculpted with a few twists and turns. For this book I felt like the story was a little stagnant. I felt like I was getting a lot of explainations and not a lot of story. Please stop explaining werewolf dominance. It's the fifth book. We get it already. She is still giving explanations for concepts that we already learned in previous books. Constant explanations about dominance is not interesting. By now I thought she would have delved a little more into Mercy and her power as a walker instead there's a lot of talk about dominance/submission. I'm waiting for Mercy to start kicking but and growing into her pack status. I would also love to see her walker power fully develop into something more powerful. Despite being annoyed by the dominance thing, I would still say listen to/read the book. There are some things about the fae that are interesting.
