I would not recommend it, because it doesn't have many interesting stories.
With her vast experience in show-biz and having rubbed shoulders with many performing Greats, I'm surprised her tales were so lacklustre. Was she holding back the juicy stuff because she's such a lady? I would have expected a much more interesting book.
She has an expressive speaking voice.
Carol Burnett does a great job of telling her story.
Martin Short's autobiography
Listening to her giggle and talk.
Let's get real!
What I liked?
Carol had a wonderful a positive upswing on everything that she says. You can tell she is well mannered and seasoned in life… But is never lost her funnybone!
What I would like to see more of?
I would love to hear more stories in greater detail of some of the celebrity she has met over the years.
Thank you Carol for sharing this book in your own words. From one Texan to another you are the best entertainer who has ever graced a stage or screen. Your humble nature and thankful attitude and value of friendships are an example to us all.
I loved this book! I was born after The Carol Burnett show, but I've watched reruns with my mom, who loves her. I always enjoyed the shows and thought Carol would be a nice friend in "real life." I feel this even more after listening to her book. I'm so glad she read it, too. I would highly recommend this book!
I had recently read Tim Conway's book and that was a bit underwhelming. Under funny actually. And it wasn't read by the author. But Ms. Burnett reads this and it's great. Funny but also illuminating of a life we otherwise see only from a distance. Fans of her will read this book no matter what I say here. Those, maybe significantly younger than I, could really like this book but I think I would recommend getting to know the performer a bit first. Youtube it.
What a wonderful book, I loved it that it was done by Ms Burnett. It made it so personal and I felt as if I were part of her world, I laughed and I cried. Ms Burnett has always been my most favorite person and I have followed her for decades. Thank you so much for sharing!
