"I wear a fez now, fez's are cool"
No, the narrator does a pretty poor job. She has the potential to be great but she over does voices, very gravely or draws out a sentence by over pronouncing words. When she is just reading without much inflection her voice she is not half bad, it is almost easy to listen too, but for the most part she is annoying and very grating.
Less inflection, less reading the male character like an old man and less over extending words.
Romance's don't generally make good movies.
The story is entertaining. I have been reading Julie Garwood books till she starting writing mysteries and loved them. She has a great sense of humor and can make some fun heroines.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
I enjoyed the story and the way the charaters were developed throughout the book. This is the second Julie Garwood book I have listened to. The Bride was the first and was narrated by Rosalyn Landor who did a much better job that Anne Flosnik
I actually loved the story it had mystery, sex, murder and love, however I found difficult to get involved because of the performance...
I did not like Anne's performance at all. Anne Flosnik is too overly dramatic in her performances. The male voices in particular were terrible.
Anne Flosnik is too overly dramatic performance
Anne Flosnik needs a coach or someone to listen to her voice before the book is released.
All her books seem to be the same because they all follow the same romance writing formula. I really dislike this narrator and the way she read love scenes made me laugh and it was highly distracting. I did like the hero alot, but i'd say it's a better read maybe.
This is one of Julie Garwood's earlier novels and one of her best. II have 344 books in my Audible library from which to choose. In the past three years, I've listened to this well over forty times and still enjoy it.
Enjoyed the story. Narrator doesn't do well with male voice. Main male character sounds like an old man rather than the young active man he is in the book / story.
know it all
This story was well below Garwood's usual. The reader was also very disappointing. Her growling was just irritating!!
Garwood's other historical books and the readers were much better.
Julie Garwood has written some of my most favorite historical romance novels. This is not one of them. This is one of those books that the ending just makes me crazy. I listened to this whole book for that? I feel like it took forever to get going and then all the good stuff happened and was rushed through and not explained then BOOM, the book was done. It also left a lot unexplained. While this narrator isn't the best I have for sure heard worse. There have been books that I have not listened to though just because I saw that she was the narrator. I just have to be in a mood for her. In this book she had different voices for each character but they were all the same tone and ....ugh it's hard to explain. Don't let this book keep you from reading anything else by Julie Garwood but if it were me I would save my credit on this one.
Yes, as long as Anne Flosnik wasn't reading it.
How long can a person drag out the last letterr of the last word in a sentence? According to Anne, foreverrrrr and in a octave lower than the rest of the sentence. Had to keep rewinding to concentrate on the story because of the way she pronounced the words. Just plain irritating,.Herrrrrrrr owwwwwn wayyyyy ughhhhhh!!!!!
No, got three hours in and couldn't take the narrator anymore.
I don't usually write bad reviews, ( If you can't say something nice.) but I can usually make it to the end of a book too.
