Both the writing and the narration were effortless. I totally agree with the person below who said "Time Traveler" - I feel like I've existed in two places at once for the few weeks or so that I've been listening to this novel. This is a compassionate and redemptive story and my only regret is that it's over.

If you never read another book again you HAVE to listen to this marvellous story. Can't remember when I was ever, so upset to hear those two words. THE END! I actually said 'OH NO" out loud!I It was only the high star rating that encouraged me to buy this and thank goodness I did. I laughed and cried, was anxious and relived. I love that there is enough story in there for a sequel or even a saga. PLEASE Kathryn Stockett, don't end it here!

I see this book has been made into a movie. I can't imagine how the complex characters and emotion could possibly be portrayed in a movie - although I will be tempted to go and see it. Loved the book – loved everything about it.

This is an excellent book. The naivety I initially attributed to the character Skeeter actually characterises the entire book. It is a good book, but it is just too "nice". Where things could & probably would go wrong they are fairly neatly tied up & anything nasty that is happening is tucked away behind the scenes. Perhaps the author intended subtlety, which the book certainly has. We get hints & I don't want things spelled out to me but it just feels lightly sugar coated. The narration is superb.

After reading the reviews I thought this book would be better than it is.
