Well, although I think the story is really funny, Jane acts so obtuse. I mean really, she's hearing tales about how she did all these awful things, and yet she dismisses this - like it's a mean girl thing from high school. She may be a vampire, but she has absolutely no super natural skills to determine what the heck is going on. When she gets shot at, she is just stunned and nervous. Hello - can you please react like a vampire and do something. I like the story, but I don't know if I will commit to the remainder of the series - unless Jane seriously gets a little smarter.
Although the narrator does a really good job with Jane's voice, the other voices fall short and flat. Gabriel sounds awful. Just that voice alone would make you NOT want to make out with him. There are truly some funny parts to the book, but please have Jane smarten up.She is gullable to the point where it's annoying. She thinks nothing of vampire murder charges - but really thinks nothing of it. Come on, Jane - can you get past yourself. Nice girls don't have fangs is really good, but Jane needs to find some intelligence - and not just quoting pop culture from books.
Well, I'm at my least 1 hour of the book, and I cannot wait to finish it - but for all the wrong reasons.
Love a story w/ humor,romance,adventure, w/out a lot of bickering,& good deals.
For those who like paranormal but don't care for dark and fright stories, this is a good listen.
Well written, humorous, and very well narrated. Molly Harper is a talented author and this is a good start to this series.
The main character is so delightfully disfunctional that it was very easy to relate to.
Like twilight and true blood combined but funnier.
I am a book lover...whether its reading or listening...give me a book and ill be lost for days (or maybe just hours) Lol
Molly was creative in the way that she decribed how one would think to feel after being turned in a vampire. The humor was greatly appreciated. Gabe was a character that i would love to have been protective of me as well. Jane is a lively character with her wit and charm. Her family however brought out the worst and made me wish I could deal with them for her.
Amanada is one of the best narrators that I have come accross. She really narrated as if it was her life. The personality of the characters really came accross and at times i forget that it was just one narrator. This is a good listen and I would definately recommend.
Sci-Fi & Vampire Novel Freak
this is my second favorite series, and it cracks me up each time I listen to it and I retain some of the silly facts Jane sprouts as well.
The sarcasm of Jane, living in a very disfuuctional family in a small town, she has the funniest outlook on relatives.
Jane Jameson the main character has the best dry wit and educational voice of a vampire librarian.
The mention of high quality digtial images of a baboons but moved me to tears and cracked a rib!
Molly Harpers books are awsome and be sure to read the wearwolf series as well, also performed by Amanda Ronconi.
I love Molly Harper. If you want to be carefree and have a good laugh, definitely check out her books! Amanda Ronconi is the perfect narrator for her characters. She hits the sarcasm and wit right on!!!!
The rest in the series. Wish it continued!
Love the narrator! She brings the book to life.
This is a book that you want to make sure your ears are clean and your hearing is top-notch, turn that "hearing aid" up, get a Mint Julip, get the rocking chair on the porch and just sit back for an enjoyable afternoon. Turn the Cell Phone off, you do not want
to miss a single word. They are all funny! Loved it.
Her wonderful voice and accent. Perfect for this book! I will listen to all and any that she does.
The witty dialogue and humor made me laugh out loud, rare for me even with a comedy.
I like the werewolf books by Patricia Briggs, although they are not comedies.
The main character -- it was a first-person book.
I listened to it over a day or two. It was not suspenseful, but it was enjoyable.
I am deciding whether to purchase more in the series. I would listen more for the humor than for the characters.
