The story was funny and the narration was funny. Amanda was able to give each character their own sound/voice. Not once did I get confused about who was talking (like I have with other audible books). I was able to connect with the main character very well. She and I are almost the same person even! I would definately reccomend this to all of my friends and anyone who loves funny vampire stories.
Top 20%, I recommend it, the story is funny, not overly steamy like some books, which can be embarrassingly too detailed, ... sexy, but tastefully written. She views her "turning" as OMG, what next ! Talk about bad days ! Some of the deep south characters and thier southern drawals are nicely narrated. Frequent chuckles, a few great belly laughs, an overall good read.
Her humerous way of delivering the sarcastic quips, her narration is perfect,
It was surprisingly funny.
Compares to Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. Both are about vampires who have come out to mainstream society and feature other supernatural species
No I have not.
I would recommend this for a light reading only to all fans of the vampire fluffy romance genre
The speaker does a great job in accenting all the humor used by the author, a lot of parts during the reading made me smile
I don't know if I will be reading all the other books... the best feature in the story is the author's sense of humor, all the rest is pretty much a recycle of the usual vampire novels... I found the Sookie Stackhouse series to be a lot more interestingly structured and love scenes are way more intreaguing than this series. The love affair in this first book is not so developed but maybe this will be done in the next books?
Maybe I will give the second book a chance, I noticed that this first book got lower reviews anyways...
This series has been so much fun to listen to! The narrator is fantastic. I couldn't stop listening. While the story is a little predictable and the mystery is easy to figure out the characters make up it. The heroine is funny, sarcastic, and so snarky. I laughed out loud countless times. I waisted no time getting the rest of the series and Molly Harpers other books as well.
I usually hate vampire/ paranormal books, but this was funny, sexy and witty! Jane gets fired from her job as a librarian, a job she loves and spills her troubles to a man she's never met as she drinks away her sorrows at a local pub. The good thing is, Jane is not a whiner, but has a quick wit and sarcastic humor and the man is intrigued. But he doesn't invite her home and she's bummed. Then her car quits on the way home, she falls into a muddy ditch, gets mistaken for a deer by a drunk hunter and is shot. Days don't get much worse. Luckily, her stranger found her and asks, "Do you want to die?" Jane says no and thus begins her days as part of the newly undead. There's a gift basket from the local "Undead Welcoming Committee" complete with handbook, the special foods section at Walmart where she can buy her synthetic blood all night and a whole new life she had never imagined. And of course, the man who saved her, Gabriel, who is smokin' hot and wants her. Her best friend, Zeb, who almost becomes her first meal (and no vampires do not kill humans -they only take what they need, but Zeb doesn't know that yet) joins a friends and family of vampires support group where he meets a wonderful werewolf. Then there is her dead aunt whom she can now see and talk to, her pushy mom, selfish sister and a vampire horn dog that won't leave her alone. The story is funny and the characters are great! Love Molly Harper's sharp sense of humor!
Absolutely. This is a must read for anyone looking for a book that uses all the stereotypes yet keeps it refreshingly light and funny.
Jane was, of course, but we can't forget Zeb! Mainly because he cracks me up and is unflinchingly loyal to Jane.
The attitude! Amanda totally made the book funnier than it would have been if I would have read it.
I had low expectations for this book...and now I feel like an idiot for ever thinking negatively of it! This will go on my to-be-read-again-and-again-and-again shelf. :)
any written by Molly Harper

I loved this book so much I have ordered the complete series plus all others wriiten by Harper and narriated by Ronconi. A perfect blend.
When she died, originally. She is ridiculously funny.
I like her sarcasm. She does a good job of bringing the characters to life.
