This was an extremely informative book. Mitt explained everything in detail that was understandable by the reader. Nothing was left to the imagination. My biggest takeaway from the book was that the news media needs to stop using news bytes and curtailing candidates' responses. Having the book read by the author was also very enjoyable.
I was very excited to read this title and was very disapointed with the first third where Romney discussed his foreign policy ideas and bashed Obama but I had hope that the book would improve and it did. I was very intrigued as he discussed economic, health care and education issues and felt that he elaborated much better on these issues than on foreign policy where I feel he bombed.
I just wish the book would have had less Obama bashing as I'm tired of the same old rhetoric from conservatives.
In This Book, No Apology by Mitt Romney, he presents an easy to digest case about America’s Greatness and what it would take to get our country back on top of things.
Of course, Romney being a Republican, he is going to have a lot of the typical traditional Republican themes interwoven throughout, but that’s okay, as Romney seems to try to be a “moderate Republican” as best he can an appeal to as many as he possibly can. Depending on where you are politically, that may or may not work for you.
Romney, with his sometimes “folksy - ah shucks” approach, tries a little too hard to portray himself and his family as the typical All American family, but that’s a stretch as it seems they all live in a fantasy world of sorts.
He’s a good person though and he has a lot of good points on what it will take to get the USA back on top of things.
his depth and understanding ,in comparison to incapable leaders, history will prove, that we made a decisive mistake in allowing emotions to enter our decision of leader picking.
it is amazing to hear someone who has done their homework, not just faking it...
to many to describe
Overall this book was very informative and interesting as Gov. Romney lays out his view of America, how he sees our place in the world and his vision for our future.
He is very clear in laying out his concerns for American foreign affairs. I found his discussion of radical Islam very helpful as he laid out the difference between an Islamist and a Jihadist. His view of our relationship with China and Russia was also clear and interesting.
The chapter on Energy Independence was thought provoking asking the reader/listener to consider which is more of a threat - a nuclear power accident or depending upon and sending all our wealth to countries that hate our way of life? Hmmmmmmmmm
The audio edition read by the author was great for giving one a sense of Gov. Romney's sincerity, enthusiasm and commitment to his principles.
The second half was interesting but not as clear or concise as the first. Topics
like our educational system, deficit, health care, entitlements etc are complicated and these chapters while informative tended to be duller than the first half dealing with his larger view and vision for our future.
Overall a good read for this Election year and learning more about the man who may be the next President of the United States.
It was a well-laid out plan for Romney's Presidency. I learned much about this man's view on foreign-policy and economics. Something the mainstream news media will not report on.
Vision for America!
I wanted to educate myself on the 2 Presidential candidates. This was a great book to learn about Romney's views and character as it relates to politics. Instead of writing about himself, like Obama's books do, Romney provides solutions for America.
I wish everyone could hear this from Mr. Romney instead of the constant barrage of lies we are subjected to on a daily basis. What happened to our civility?
It is important to me that that the writer whose voice I know read his own words. It seems more authentic to me. I am always surprised when people say that Romney is not clear on his position: he is not against gays, he is against gays stealing the definition of marriage; he is not against health care, he is against Obamacare etc... This book is plainly spoken and easy to listen to and understand. A good listen.
I was impressed on how solid his opinions are on all the political issues. I don't understand this "flip-flop" business, he may have flipped ( I hope to high heaven an intelligent being can change his opinion) but he never "flopped"
.I like it when the author reads his own words. He knows what he is saying and knows how to say it, particularly puvlic figures. My mother in law wrote poetry and could hardly stand haveing someone else read her her own poetry because they did not know how to read. I think that is the difference between the spoken word and the written.
The last chapter was particularly moving. You could hear , not only in his words but also in his voice, how much he truly loves this country. I think he loves it almost as much as he does his wife.
Get other authors to read their own words, it is far more personal and intimate -- like listening to an old friend.
This book shows all the different experience that Mr. Romney has in so many aspects of economics and leading people in no nonsense ways. There are so many things to be done and in really a short 4 years but it seems as if he is going to be right in his element. His track record shows a go getter, an extremely common sense kinda guy! I especially like to hear the authors read their own books, you can tell that it is told the way it was thought.
He describes international students studying in our universities and at graduation it is required that they leave the country (I assume for home.) This in comparison to illegal immigrants coming and being covered by our precious entitlement programs. It makes sense that we might like to hold on to the bright ones if we at all could and reform the entry for those who are not contributors to our system. Many of these international students are very serious about their education and work for degrees in the sciences and engineering.
These happen to be the areas that our american students seem to have waning interests despite the potential for such great need and opportunity as a needed piece of our economic recovery.
He wasn't wishy washy about the topics . He had an opinion and then expressed why he felt that way in an easily understood manner . Then he told you how he had done some of these things and how success is not a bad word.
What America Needs in our President!
I just really liked the book ,it was easy to understand, and I learned a lot !!!!!
I really like his no nonsense approach, and that he isn't hesitant to make a change if it makes more sense.
