This is not another vampire/twilight story but an incredible mix of fiction wrapped around well researched history. I am unable to explain it better without giving away the plot but do not be surprised if you find yourself giving anyone in sunglasses a thoughtful second look.
Say something about yourself!
Seth Smith took the literary interest of Lincoln, mixed in the popularity of the Twilight series, and told it along a story line that paralleled The Da Vinci Code, and out came an interesting idea but marginally performed. The narration and story was good enough to keep me listening until the end. If you enjoy vampire books then it is likely worth a listen, otherwise spend your money on something else.
I found the story dull. Read more like a history synopsis rather than a story. The opening prologue leads you to believe there is more to this part, but it is just dropped and the ending was quite anti-climatic.
I thought, when I saw this listed, yea right this isn't going to be cool. WAS I EVER WRONG!!! This Audio book was very cool, so cool that I just ordered the hard bound print for another go at it, My wife and Kids should enjoy this more than the twilight series, ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS GIVE US MORE!!!!!!!
This book was so well written and contained so much writing based around historical events, that if you were inclined to believe in vampires, you would have thought this book was a biography, not historical fiction. I listened to it almost straight through, glued to my headphones.
Wow I saw all the parallels in this book with us history. very brave won't be liked by all but its a great story and I think it will make a great movie
Wow! What can I say about this book. It was quirky, unsual, intersting, engrossing and totally fun! Just reading the preview you can tell it was going to be different and it was. What a great break from the ho hum novels that are all in the same classic theme. I loved it!!!!!
I find this book highly entertaining. I am enjoying the new spin on the old history and the things that accompany it. I would buy this book with or with out credits. It is really worth it.
Despite the strange premise of this book, I really enjoyed it. Very inventive and it created an interesting alternate US history. I was a little surprised by how gruesome it was, though. That's not a bad thing. I was just surprised by it. I guess I was expecting it to be more humorous, but it isn't. Also, the use of period music from time to time was a nice touch. However, I didn't really like the narrator. He was a bit too robotic in his reading style.
