"Addictive"
I'm hooked. The narration of this book is outstanding and the scope of its story is absolutely engaging left me wanting more. I really hope Kiss of Crimson, Midnight Awakening as well as the other books of this series are available soon on audible.
I've become a sucker for Audible. I love audiobooks, to the point of addiction. Especially a good romance audiobook... :)
"Very good start to a series that kicks-butt! :)"
The first Midnight Breed book: it's very good. Lucan is sexy. Gabrielle is also great. This series is often compared to BDB. However, if you keep reading the series, you won't regret it. You'll also realize the series is nothing like BDB.
Im now starting the 5th book in this series. And wow!! I'm so glad I listened to all the hype. It's all true. By book 4, I went ahead and downloaded the rest of the series.
You won't regret it!!
(p.s. the narrator is good I the first few books, but she really gets better as the series continues.)
"A must have in your library"
From the begin to the end you will find that you don't want it to end. Wonderful story and I hope to hear more by this author.
I'm an avid reader, and a newly avid listener. I work alot of hours and books are my escape, whether on paper or audio!!
"Meh, okay...."
I like to listen to audiobooks while I'm doing other things. Considering that I only spent $4.95 on this title, I can't claim complete disappointment. That being said, I'm sure there was another $4.95 title out there I would've enjoyed more.
Probably not. I don't know too many friends that would enjoy this type of story.
I felt like the narrator's performance fell flat throughout the story. Sometimes, I expected her to convery a little more emotion from the main character, and was left feeling like she was bored.
While the hot sex is great, I think it would have been nice for the characters to develop some emotional attachment before going all in.
"I'm hooked!"
I love this book and wish Audible had the rest of the series. I will keep my fingers crossed!
"there's better"
I would only recommend this to a friend whom LOVES paranormal romance and suspense but has already completely finished J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brother Hood series and Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. This is more to hold you off until you find something better. Like eating a hershey's bar when really you want chocolate cake.
Not At All...I feel those who aren't used to this genre the new take on Vampire origins is intriguing and can make one interested to find even more untraditional outlooks on the legend of a creature that is as old as the character's age.
Hmmm...hard to say...I wasn't completely disappointed by her. I liked her variations on different accents, she did that very well, but I wish the main male character hadn't sounded so angry all the time...he sounded pissed off even when he wasn't supposed to be.
I guess so...I go through stages with my audio books. When picking this novel I hadn't had enough of paranormal romance, but had finished what is available on Audible in the other series I'm tangled up in. Kiss of Midnight did the job, but I am not interested enough to take on this series, just moved on to different genre's now.
This novel wasn't bad but it wasn't great. If you are interested in taking on a paranormal romance series I suggest the fore-mentioned or the Sookie Stackhouse novels, werewolf series by Patricia Briggs, or Blood Ties series by Jennifer Armintrout. Now those are series you can "sink" your teeth into!
"Struck the wrong chord."
Maybe it was a mistake to try this book after re-listening to Jeanine Frost's Vampire Huntress novels. The book has some potential lore-wise and the characterization isn't terrible.
However, I have to rate it low and wish I could delete it from my library simply because the first 'romantic' encounter in the book occurs while the female lead is asleep and the male breaks into her house. Creeeepy. I don't care how hot some guy is; this is non-consenting stuff.
Twilight did it better; and I hate Twilight. At least Edward just stared at Bella.
It's safe to say the book failed for me because the relationship between the characters seemed really unrealistic, classic jumping into bed-to-fast, no build up of tension etc.
Props to the narrator though, she was fine. Not quite 5 stars, but very easy to listen to.
"She's no J. R. Ward or Charlaine Harris"
Ok, you won't die of boredom with this book - but why anyone would think the two mains actually fall in love is beyond me. There is no passion and the "sex" is boring. In the end all I cared about was what happen between her friend and her and you didn't ever get that cleared up. Unless you have tried the above authors or Stepjanie Meyers, Patricia Briggs or Jeaniene Frost, and are all caught up on them, there are so many other books.
"FINALLY.........Lara Adrian!!!"
I read these books when they first came out and was so happy the are showing up on Audible. A whole new take on the vampire story that grabs your attention from the start. The characters are believable and interesting and the sparks really FLY between the Breed men and their mates!! I hope more of her books shows up here on Audible. She is a great new talent for the Audible family.I hope all enjoy Ms. Adrian's work as much as I do!!!
