This book was largely very well written. There were just a few points that I thought didn't come across quite right but for the most part I thought this book was great from a writing perspective and would definitely read or listen to another book by this author. Or even a sequel if she'd like to tell the story of some of the lesser characters or continue the story of the principles.
The narrator was just okay for me. I respect the narrators greatly as I would imagine it's a very difficult job to get the character voices and narrating style down. However, this narrator seemed to be just a bit too focused on developing a different voice for each character and let's be frank there are quite a few in this book. As someone else stated the character of Crane, in particular, just didn't come across as well as I'm sure the narrator hoped. Also I felt his focus on the different character voices made it difficult for him to develop a good style and some parts come across as rushed or not sounding quite right to my ear.
Overall, though, I would definitely recommend this book. I'm already listening to it again.
Say something about yourself!
I would recommend this to others who love this kind of story, because it is such a wonderfully romantic and sexy read.
The moment when Jin and Logan first meet each other's eyes! Impact! What a memorable moment.
Jin--Sean makes Jin so real, you almost feel like you are in the story with Jin.
Crane is also another character I love. He's funny and real, too.
Sean Crisden is now my favourite performer, he's great.
My extreme reaction is that I love it and now have both audiobook and book, I also have the sequels "Trusted Bond" and "Honored Vow". They are both brilliant.
Mary Calmes is on my book list for continuing to read.
Interesting idees for the story, but it felt ruched and badly put together. I love Calms books, so was sad that this didnt come close to her other works. Some dialouge was just ridiculus and annoyed the hell out of me, and the narrator didnt make it any better. He speed-read thrue it and left me confused at times so I had to re-listen to important parts. He didnt have menny voice variations and I had to keep lower and highing the volume to get the audio right.
One of my favorites. This was actually one of the first audiobooks that I listened to (I am just now writing the review) and it is still one that I can go back to and re-listen to it consistently.
There are a lot of memorable moments in this story, but probably the one that stands out the most to me personally is when Jin and Logan met for the first time. Even through reading or listening to the story you could feel the tension between the two of them. It was palpable and easy to really immerse yourself into that situation and feel the things that the characters are feeling.
The voices of the characters is a big one for me. I love listening to the deep voice he has for Logan (Kind of have a thing for deep voices) and hearing the expressions of the characters themselves as the way that they should be said.
Absolutely. And I did. Multiple times.
The lore behind the whole Change of Heart series is phenomenal. Mary Calmes definitely did her research when it came to the lore behind the Werepanther world. I have read this series a couple times now and it is still one of my favorites.
This truly was a struggle to finish. From the narrator's pronunciations, his voice, everything about it I hate it! I just absolutely hate it. I first purchased this as a Kindle book and it was great! When I saw it was on for audible, I was so excited and then I started listening, from the Fozzie Bear voice to the pronunciation of Ma'at as Mot....awful
I really enjoyed this story about a were panther who was beaten and kicked out of his tribe at 16 because he was gay. The story was interesting, fun to read, and I highly recommend.
Omg first i love shifter books , this book was beautifu, where have you been all my life i enjoy this book a lot. Jin is a gay werepanther and a rare one at that, his special and powerful and there is Logan Church his mate the Alpha. All the character in this book was great and the narrator Sean Crisden was awesome i highly recommend it 5 star
🌺 Lover of Amazing Stories 🌺
Another great tale of love that must be fought for, trusted in, and held on too tightly. Ms. Calmes is amazing at creating a lovely tale of men who deserve and fight like hell to hold on to their love for one another. Mr. Crisden did an excellent job of bringing Jin and Logan to life for me.
The only thing I usually get annoyed with in Ms. Calmes stories is how affectionate or touchy feely the main character (in this story it's Jin) is with women he comes across. In almost all of her stories it's the same. And although I appreciate the kindness and beautiful heart her main characters have, the touchy feely stuff with the females (especially those he's just met) is a bit much for me. It's not as bad as it is in some of her stories and other than that, this story was a wonderful few hours of entertainment.
I won't be listening to book 2 and 3 because for some odd reason a narrator who is not Sean Crisden (and is completely wrong for the characters I've grown to care about) does the narration and I'm not just disappointed because I desperately wanted to listen to book 2 and 3 but I'm baffled as to why a switch was done seeing as Sean Crisden did an excellent job in this stories and his voice is Jin and Logan. I just purchased book 4 because Mr. Crisden is narrating it. yay!
