I listen to lots of books and I'm nearly done with this one, but it is about the worst one I've ever listened to. I fast-forwarded through a mother telling all the different ways to die -- she went on and on in her thoughts. I don't care about prostitutes in NYC.
When will I ever learn to read the 1 star reviews before I buy a book! If this was the only book I'd ever gotten, I'd cancel my Audible membership and just listen to music.
I have listened to over 250 books on tape, and I would rank this one in the lowest 20%. Although portions of it might be considered artistically written, it has a very weak, almost non-existent, story line. I found it very hard to maintain any interest in it. Nonetheless, I stuck with it until the end, and found it to be very disappointing. If you like reading books that have a plot line, I guarantee that this book is not for you.
I suffered through every page of aparant pointless, descritive prose hoping it lead to a connected ending. In the future I will totally ignore ***** ratings the lower ratings are much closer to the truth. For refernce, authors who entertain me are Baldacci, Grafton, Meltzer, Burke, Brown, Flynn, Griffin, McCullough, Preston, Lutz to name a few.
