As an Austen fan and an Audible junkie, finding satisfying readings of Austen novels took a few tries. Some readers hurry through or over-enunciate, while others clearly do not understand the material well enough to perform well. In this reading, Lindsey Duncan thoroughly satisfies. She reads softly, clearly, and at a medium pace. She also gives the characters wonderfully correct and individual tones, but she does not overdo it.
This is a great book narrated by a great talent! I have often wanted to read this book, but could never find the time. So glad I needed something to listen to during some very long drives, and discovered Audible!
Elizabeth's reading Darcy's letter. The reader inflects her turmoil well.
Pemberley--how it plays with character!
Extreme--no. Grin, smile, chuckle, even laugh out loud at times--yes.
Although I've read P&P many times, I had fun revisiting this old friend. Listening brought a new experience to the book: I heard passages I had missed or weren't as impressed by in just reading. I enjoyed Duncan's interpretation of characters and didn't feel I was just listening to a rerun of BBC versions. Yes, I enjoyed listening and have moved on to Persuasion and am enjoying it too.
The narrator does an amazing job. The story is excellent. I couldn't stop listening. I love both the book and the movie. Highly recommend everyone to listen to this book.

There is a reason this is a classic. Doesn't matter what kind of romances you like, this one is a must read, or listen in this case.
i decided to read this bc it was classic and so many people gave it 5 stars. I only managed to get through 30% of it. Ton of senseless chatting... Such a disappointment
