I've had a terrible time sleeping the past few months and decided to give this a try. It works some nights and not so much on others. The author's voice is very monotone which probably helps it work more effectively in hypnosis. The price is right, so you don't have much to lose. I know I was willing to try almost anything.
I'm sleeping much better on the whole, with some exceptional nights of sleep such as I haven't had in years. I use the recording on my Kindle with headphones and find it easy to navigate between the different sections.
I noticed that some people said that they were disturbed by the Audible announcement at the end of the book, but this hasn't been the case for me.
I recommend this recording to all with sleep problems, but also to people who wish to use hypnosis to work on health problems or other issues (the 'healing' section, the 'sweet dreams' and 'creative sleep sections').
Highly recommended. Don't think of it as New Age or a 'last resort', this audiobook will take you through tried and true methods for achieving deep relaxation, for turning off an overactive or anxious mind, and for allowing imperfect sleeping environments to become less distracting. In short, it works.
I have a terrible time falling asleep, I have been sleeping like a baby when I listen to this!
I can sleep
monotone voice, that keeps going even when my mind drifts off
Not sure yet
There is no way to navigate through the sections. Way to hard to use in any practical way.
The book is fine but it is not functional in this format.
This is one of several books I own to help me sleep, and for the moment it's the most effective. I like the quiet gentle voice and the words are soothing.
I purchased this for my husband. He keeps waking up and can't get back to sleep. He worries about work. So we played this in our bedroom at night. The words are helpful and fine. However I had a terrible time with his voice. This is very subjective and I apologize to him. I just could not stand listening to his voice hour after hour at night. I would turn it off when I could not listen anymore. My husband did not have a problem. It was playing on my side of the bed in a radio/ipod player. I could not get to sleep listening to it. My husband can listen to it before bed on his own or I will tolerate it for him. Just my opinion. Listen to his voice before you buy it. I did, but hours of it are difficult.
Don't know why the term "medical" is used in the title. Besides that Dr. (Phd not Md) Gurgevich has a smooth delivery of his script. With my sleep meds it takes me 90 minutes to fall asleep. With this recording and my sleep meds I fall asleep within 30 minutes. I have PTSD that interferes with my sleep and this product helps me go to sleep.
Dr. Gurgevich guides you through multiple layers of relaxation and hypnosis. I've used his audio book to get off sleep medication and stop pain - yes it works better than drugs.
I really like the 4th chapter that is a healing sleep hypnosis. Each time I practice this hypnosis I feel better and better. Very good for healing pain.
I suffer with insomnia.
I first went to the LAST track for a Deep, Deep, Sleep.
For the first time in as long as I can remember I slept soundly!
However, the next night, I rushed myself and went to the other tracks.
I won't do that again!
My suggestion is to others who try this audio is to move SLOWLY.
I found out that memories can creep up in dreams. I was not ready for that.
Yet a GREAT NIGHTS SLEEP on the last track DEEP, DEEP SLEEP is worth it.
Great Purchase! Take it SLOW!
