Most modern day entrepreneurs (even though this book bags out that particular word!) already know and do this stuff by instinct. Quite enjoyable book, with a few laugh out loud moments where the author calls a spade a spade. This is the kind of book that won't change anyone's mind on how they could or should work or run a business, but it does give its target reader stoutness of heart, reminding them that they aren't crazy bucking some of the follies of big business systems and cultures.

My opinion is that this one should be purchased as a book. Then you can return to it easier or read parts from time to time.
Inspiring and enjoyable. Moves between workday routines and bigger questions running a company. Although it best fits to persons running smal businesses; it's also got a lot of interesting thoughts for "just" employees. And the authors also practice what they preach; this book is short and compact; all nonsense and pointless repeating are removed.
This book was a refreshing read and so many of parts of it are truly inspiring and i would recommend this to anyone to read....
I kept getting the feeling, as it went along, it was really well suited for either the type of companies you see coming out of silicon valley, or other companies who are simply service-as-product companies. And, yes, so much of America is now a service based economy, but for those old-world holdouts like manufacturers and those who make widgets as products - some of the things in the book are near impossible to implement.
But that's ok. The other elements that could be possibly implemented more than make up for that.
It has some very good ideas, but nothing new or revolutionary as they claim. Just good old back-to-basic. This is OK, but it is over-dramatized for no good reason, written in a very arrogant way which is further emphasized by the narration and uses abusive language for no good reason.
37 Signals is a very good company, but the book is written as if their way is the only way, and it is not.
Many of the things they mentioned are from the point of view of an SaaS business and are the holly truth.
If you are not annoyed by the style, it has good information, especially for small and starting businesses. If...
Just read it and... rework your approach to work, customers, life and personal duties.
I love it!
It was a good book and had alot of great concepts in it that all of us should apply to business. I actually agreed with almost everything in the book but the arrogant narration and the "This is the ONLY way to do it" attitude turned me off. The folks at 37 Signals definitely have done alot of things right and have had lots of success, it would have been nice to hear how they got there without all of the cockiness. I would still recommend it though as the content was good, it was just the delivery that I didn't care for.
Said John DeLorean about himself after a serious of events led him to take a good clear look at his life and himself... May the men who wrote this ridiculous and self-confirming book someday gain a little perspective. If you are looking for solid business advice or even just for inspiration, keep moving.
