To begain with I love Linda Howard's characters and the persons in Kill and Tell don't disappoint. With a strong and careing nurse to the cop with refind manners, Linda sucks you in and keeps you interested all the way to the end.
I've always enjoyed this book and wanted to see how it would sound. There is so much emphasis in the descriptions on how the voice of the main male character sounds. I guess a woman just can't do a man's voice justice. It didn't really sound all that deep or slow or cajun to me. Other than the main character's voice, the narration was ok. I actually really liked the voice of the female main character. The story was a good one and the expression in the tense or steamy scenes was done well.
I didn't hate this story but it wasn't the best either. I just didn't see the romance develop and it all happened too fast. She meets him one day and has sex the next and a week later they are in love...it just didn't work for me. I like Linda Howard and the narrator was decent but the story needed more...something. Okay for a light listen.
The story was a little slow at first. I listen while I exercise etcetera but the narration brought the story to life. I finished reading it then had to listen to it again.
I have always enjoyed Natalie Ross as a narrator and I think she made this 'pretty good' romantic suspense story into an excellent romantic suspense story. This is one of Linda Howard's better suspense books in my opinion. Like so many of her stories, the main male character, Marc, is a super protective, smart, charming and sexy guy. Her main female character, Karen, is also smart but way out of her depth in the face of a world of government subterfuge, spies, and ambitious murderers. Together they face the challenges and dangers and end up with their own HEA.
The story was OK. You could tell it was written a while ago with references to pay phones and such.
I really couldn't get into the main male lead; her reading of his dialogue just felt off to me.
Someone to actually write a book, the book is poorly written and totally unbelievable plot, the sex dominated this writing and I just fast forwarded thru them .
The unbelievable killers
Don't waste your time or money
Probably not. It did not live up to my expectations.
No, I do not think it was typical for this genre.
Somewhat, although things were not always clear.
No, would not want to read a follow-up.
This book was more erotic than mysterious. I think the author spent too much time describing sexual situations in great detail rather than providing mystery or suspense. Not exactly what I expected this book would be.
12 step program please. I am addicted to Audible! I love trashy sexy books, award winning novels and everything between. Bring it!
I liked that New Orleans serves as the backdrop to Kill and Tell because it only positively highlights the parallel story threads: one of suspense and mystery and the other of sexy something. Unfortunately, this audio book felt a little lopsided and unbalanced. On the one hand you have a nice suspenseful mystery; and it was well developed and that is the saving grace of this book. Why was Karen’s father killed? What is the deal with that little black book? What is the connection to Vietnam? And then we have the almost romantic story. The story was not developed and it left me wanting for more. Mark and Karen hook up and have incredibly sexual chemistry and after, I don't know, 36 total hours in bed, they declare their love, stop using condoms and decide to get married. It felt a little too drunken Vegas for me and I didn't see the purpose of the love declaration or marriage. Come on kids, just keep having great sex. Why ruin the story with marriage and love! It felt forced - as if it wanted to be a romance book and just didn't know how to get there. I need the emotional chemistry, courting, chasing, funny and sweet back and forth to be integral to my romance favorites. Kill and Tell was missing that.
Good - the mystery was resolved and I was even a little surprised.
I like her narration - she has a nice voice, and is able to give everyone voice. She knows how to make her leading men sound sexy.
Too much sex. I didn't need to hear any more anatomical descriptions. The mystery story is good but it drags with each sex scene. A real yawner. Very dated. The actual copyright is 1998.
