I would rank it pretty high given that the people in the story are very endearing.
The first chapter starts with a booming voice that explains the structure of Discworld. This is part of the story and is meant to enhance the drama of the whole thing. Some people say the audio is poor or sounds like it's in an echo chamber. This is not true. Please ignore these comments.
If there was an earlier version with errors, this is now fixed.
The book is very well read and quite enjoyable to follow.
I have not listen to many Audiobook in my life (2 or 3 maby) so ranking it wont mean much.
Death. Don't have to explain!
ve to gotten some better recording gear!
The book is a bit messy and was listening on it while I was working so I had a hard time following along in the story. So i had to cut it up in 3 sessions.
I would not recomend this book to a first time audiobook listener unless you sit down in a relaxing chair and focus 100% on the book. It's a lot to take in about the world and characters. But overall i liked it a will probably continue this serie.
Pratchett is genius
The quality of the recording varied throughout which was distracting at times - especially for a full priced text.
Storywise and performancewise, I have no complaints, but the audio quality was very uneven. It must have been transferred from som old cassette recordings, where some of the cassettes were of very poor quality.
I really loved the optimistic and daring view of life that was displayed by the tourist, Twoflower. Death is also a very interesting character!
I think it's a tie between Twoflower and Death.
Yes, despite the poor quality, I really enjoyed listening to it.
whats not to love? Apart from... hum... the recording quality is... shall we say, interesting but NOVEL! a bit more cooling power in the helmet of the troll recording ingeneer would of been nice... BUT IT'S ORIGINAL, different! If you pick up on the series the quality get's better and better, to the point where diskworld audio books gain a new dimention. The story is great, brilliant, funny, intelligent. Give the troll a chance, get's better and better with each book! PS sorry for the spelling, I used the Ankmorpork dislexikus dictionary uncorector
maybe get the troll a freezer to work in?
I loved the characters. Nigel Planer's performance gave real life to the book.
The Luggage takes no prisoners.
The performance gave depth and personality to the characters. Reading would have been words without humour.
Poor Rincewind tries so hard but just can't make it happen.
Nigel Planer does his best to make this catastrophe worth the credit or money spent on it but even he is unable to save it. Truly horrible audio quality, sounds like he's standing in an echo chamber.
Classics, history, historical fiction, marketing, Napoleonic stuff and of course 'Boys own Adventure'. This is my bent. Occasional self help as well.
First off, the quality of the audio is terrible.
Now the story is interesting but no does not really go anywhere, just to the edge of the world and perhaps a computer jet over the Atlantic Ocean. Fun it was, and I look forward to the rest of the series. Overall, still worth the purchase.
