Wonderfully read by Liza Tarbuck; sensitive and funny in all the right places. Mental health is such a quietly shared issue within families, beautifully shared personal views and experiences. Thank you
"Thanks for sharing."
Never been much of an autobiography reader until I listened to this. Have grown up with Dawn as one of my comedic heroes and always thought of her as invincible with a real don't care what the critics say attitude. This story reveals lots you didn't know about Dawn and provides some background as to why she's one of the funniest women in Britain. Reading this, ignited an enthusiasm to pick up a new genre of reading/listening and I've added loads of biographies to my library.
This is lovely and made me laugh and cry. It's not soppy it's like going to lunch with a friend and hearing about there life.
This was the third Dawn French book that I Iistened to, and I wondered if I might enjoy it less as Dawn was not reading it herself. I need not have worried as the book was wonderful and was not spoilt in the least by Lisa Tarbuck's rendition. Written in the form of letters, the whole thing came together very nicely, and was a great choice for reading or listening, depending on your preference.
"Funny and touching"
This book is what you expect it to be and an awful lot more. It is funny but also underlying is a sadness brought on by events in her past. It is often said comedy is born from tragedy. It is a very good listen and I would recommend it to anyone dawn french fan or not.
This is a great book with a wonderful incite into the life of this very funny lady with all the ups and downs of every day life and easy to listen to the beautiful voice of Liza Tarbuck
Would have thought there would have been a little more amusement but didn't come up to expectations. May be better in her next book!
heartwarming, heartaching, funny, sentimental, laughout loud, and the appreciation of life, love, happiness and sorrow and the journey of learning about life. a brilliant book that will many will identitfy with.
