really enjoyed listening about how Jack Dee got into comedy and his early stand up events.
would love to here more about once he'd started to make it and dealing with Addison Lee, great book non the less!
"Dee by name A+ by nature!"
If you like comedy, like Jack Dee or perhaps have failed to get into university and are hopping from job to job trying to find your place in the world then this book could be for you.
I loved the intelligent, witty general observations as well as the insights into Jack's early years before he finally made it. As it is read by the author it is even more entertaining and enjoyable.
I wish it had been even longer as I could have easily listened to more...hope there's a follow-up.
Jack Dee is a very likeable character - dead-pan, down to earth, telling it like it is. This book engages the listener with a frank and fascinating backstage peek into how he got to where he is now, and reveals what it took for him to get there. His honest account of his successes and failures is delivered out-of-character, and at many points evokes much sympathy from the listener. Jack is very much time-served as an entertainer, having worked his way up from nothing, despite the hostile and sometimes downright cruel environment of the comedy business that the public doesn't usually see. Highly recommended.
"Very much Jack Dee"
Really good listen and rare insight into a hard to read comedian well worth investing in
"classic Jack Dee"
more sentimental than I had imagined. but a very good listen especially as read by the man himself.
"kept me amused"
kept me amused, much better than I was expecting having bored my self to sleep trying to listen to Stephen frys latest self indulgent offering.
"interesting and funny"
the interesting bits aren't funny and the funny bits aren't interesting. I found this an felt conflicted book, sometimes just ranty, sometimes actually telling his story.
"A fascinating and funny read"
The book was excellent, filled with funny stories from Jacks road to fame delivered in his signature dry voice. Would highly recommend thanks jack!
Hey, it's Jack Dee talking what more do you need? Apparently I've got to use an exact amount of words.
