"A rattling good listen."
I read some reviews that this story was a slow starter. I disagree. The time taken to "paint" the background and primary character was important to me. Once these things were established, the story began to take its sinuous shape.
There were enough twists and turns to keep me glued to the story. Vivid descriptions of characters and places allied with the pace that events took place, kept me enthralled.
Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended. Shame about the music but that is just my take on listening.
Brilliant, gripping thrilling story. Really kept me gripped start to finish and have played several times.
King can drag out a short story but Bag of Bones is sublime I feel like these characters were my neighbours and I have lived with them all my life
"My most favorite Stephen King book!!!"
The characters were so believable. It is read by Mr King himself, which makes the story so real. The details in this story are vividly brought to life by Mr King's writing & narration.
Mike. You laughed & cried with him.
When Mike has those spooky nightmares.
When Mike went back to Sarah Laughs for the first time and his memories of Jo came flooding back.
I have read the book several times and also have the Audio CDs which I have listened to around four times, before buying this as my very first audio book. Listened to it coming back from the USA.
"Typical Stephen king book"
I love Stephen king novels plus most of his books I have read before my stroke but Stephen king is no narrator so it spoilt the audiobook it is a pity because it is a very good book
Same tone of voice all through the book it made it boring
Stephen king as narrator find a actor to read bag of bones
"Read by the Author"
Audiobooks are excellent for driving and walking, activities that you cannot perform while reading a book. The author reads this version and there are nuances you simply do not pick up while reading. For example, certain words that the author says using local dialects. This adds enormous colour and depth to the characters. Very much enjoyed both the pace and the development of the plot.
As with most of Stephen Kings books, there is a depth to the characters and their interplay that keeps you attention from start to finish.
I liked all the characters, each was interesting in their own way. Without giving away the plot, the villains and heroes of the story are all favourites.
This is already a mini-series. I'll watch that once I've read the book and see how it translates to film. Sadly, most of Stephen Kings books translate badly to film.
Gripping, Evil, Love
Mike is the protagonist who is faced with an unfolding mystery and various moral battles, I almost wanted to see how those would play out either way...
I like his voice and characterization of Mike
This book made me reflect, Mikes reactions and responses are interesting in different situations
Gotta love SK!!!!! I'm a huge fan, However I think I prefer his books when they stay away from the ghost story type theme. I would still recommend this though, its funny how much the little girl, who is only three, can express herself, perhaps she could have been a little older like they made her in the film - which stars Pierce Brosnan (avoid the film at all costs, they completely changed the story!)
"Gets there in the end"
I thought this was really slow to start but once it got going it is definitely one of his best
I loved the story but it was spoilt by the annoying music that made it very hard to hear some parts! keep music to in-between chapters please!
