"Great books wonderfully read"
Lenny Henry really made this book come alive. A fine audiobook that I will listen to again.
"What a book :)"
Beautifully read, wonderful story - as good as any Neil Gaiman tale.
I will miss it now it's finished
"Fantastic Lenny Henry"
The story is great, but made even better by a fantastic performance by Lenny Henry - especially the various elderly women he voices - just superb
I did not think I'd like the narration for some reason, being that Lenny is a comedian and haven't seen him do any serious material. But he surprised me and I really recommend listening to this!
"Gaiman at his best again."
I absolutely love this book as I do other Neil Gaiman's creations. It is a clear spoof of "American Gods" (or maybe it was the first of the two) so I had to have it in my audiobook collection too.
I was not disappointed. Great performance with a great Mr. Livingstone's Yorkshire accent, great story which makes a great audiobook.
I really had to stick with this audio for about the first 3 - 4 hours. Unfortunately, as much as I like Lenny Henry, I didn't like the performance and feel it may have detracted from my overall enjoyment.
I would like to add that this is the first fiction audio book I have listened to, so it may just be the format that I don't like.
If you're in 2 minds about this audio then I would suggest buying the book and reading.
Enthralling from start to finish, couldn't put it down. Yet another Gaiman work of genius.
"Clever, funny and well performed"
Caiman is a master of comic and complex fantasy and Lenny Henry an amazing voice actor and comedian who portrays every character perfectly.
So what happens when your Dad is a God your brother is a Demi-God and you suffer from severe embarrassment? The awnser includes a Lime.
Loved this book and Lenny Henry was the perfect narrator. My favourite Neil Gaiman to date
"Charming and funny."
I am not a fan of Lenny Henry usually but his narration is brilliant.
This book is warm, enjoyable and made me smile. Kind of like a pair of cosy slippers. Gainman is spot on here.
