Addicted to audible. One the best things that happened to me
I enjoyed listening to the light, fun and passionate book "Crush It!". As a practitioner and enthusiast of digital marketing and social media, the information in this book came from the heart and Gary made sure to put them with lots of emphasis and passion.
The book has great ideas and while lots of effort has been put into it, I believe that more could have been done especially when Gary wanted to make this a User's guide for online branding. Investment in Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click, Email marketing is needed to consolidate such presence. Syndication through internet tools is important but yet, monitoring and analysis is as important. I would agree that it comes at a later stage and could be depressing if taken as a priority at the beginning yet, a professional guide would help avoid many of the pitfalls that could cost weeks or months of aimless effort.
This is essential reading for entrepreneurs because it is the concrete conceptualization of how the internet shall prevail against conventional media because it is self regenerating engine that has all the ingredients but only with passion you can find them in the internet's overwhelming sea. This book is a tool to help new entrepreneurs grow their new business.
Could Gary has written this better? Sure, but with the ever changing domain of the net, you can never capture all.
Yes. Good tidbits of info and lists to review
The power to connect - and how to do it through blogging...
Software Developer who firmly believes Anything is possible - with a checkbook and a sense of humor.
Although Gary Vaynerchuk is well-known as an Internet broadcaster and conference speaker, he is not a trained orator. His style is a bit rough-around-the-edges and caused me to regret my purchase as the book began.
However, he is so obviously sincere and passionate about the subject matter you cannot help but gain a feeling of endearment after the first chapter or two. His very conversational style and incredible exuberance is irresistible.
For those who may have known or admired Gary Vaynerchuk before purchasing this audiobook (not me) this is NOT SIMPLY GARY READING HIS BOOK. There are numerous places where he strays "off the script" to provide a very personal perspective or more current assessment of his information.
I honestly "could not put it down" with this audiobook. And, to date, I feel as though I had an intimate lunch with Gary (he even provides his personal email address with a sincere offer to "write me anytime").
I strongly recommend this book.
The advice is sound
It obviously comes from personal experience (aka personal success)
The author's perspective includes "Family First" (sincerely)
It is outright fun to "sit with Gary" as he describes his ideas
The presentation *is* motivational - far more than other similar(?) "Here's how I got rich and you can follow my formula too" type of books.
This guy is a hot shot - a power player! I am from the south so I wish he would talk
slower. Next time he is in Nashville - he can spend come time with us. We can help
him slow down. Because he talks fast - you get a book and a half for the price of one
book. Amazing book!
Yes because you can hear the authors excitement about the topic.
His description of his childhood and starting out in business.
When he describes how much better Denny's could have taken advantage of the popularity of the adds during the super bowl.
It is critical to monitor what is being said about your company in social media.
One of the better books I have listened to on business. Would definitely recommend it to others.
Gary is both funny and informative. Too many people are comfortable with living below average lifestyles. I recommend this book to my friends, clients and anyone who want to get ahead in life!
I just so enjoyed this! I don't know how many times I had to rewind and review and really soak in what Gary was saying. Personally, this just reaffirmed to me that it is OK to be myself and let that come out without so much censorship.. (ok, some censorship) but not taking away my authentic personality and being unfiltered and unpolished and raw was OK.... "riffing", another nice take away for me! This one will be living in my ipod, ipad, itunes..oh, and the book won't be so far away either!
ON A SIDENOTE: This book was buzzing around my community back when it first came out and at the time I guess I wasn't ready for it...... I am so glad I waited because the anticipation of the now available "THANK YOU ECONOMY" would have driven me crazy of having to wait for another dose of GARY awesomeness!
Gary has my gratitude for walking his talk and communicating his message passionately and thoroughly. Whether or not I agree with his conclusions and advice (mostly I do), my hat's off to someone who so embraces their own human experience. Gary is not holding back in any regard and it's just so dang refreshing in our world of sound bites and talking points.
Thanks again, Gary.
Gary Vaynerchuk has hit a home run with his book Crush It! This book uses our passion, that deep resonating passion that we all have for a particular interest, and tells us how best to leverage it.
Gary, of Wine Library, tells us of his humble beginnings working in his parent’s store as a teenager. Even then he saw a need, people couldn’t decide which wine they wanted. So, he studied up on the subject and realized he loved wine, at least understanding it in the beginning.
This book shows you how to:
- Recognize your passion
- Leverage social media to extend or build your brand
- Embrace a customer service model
- Enjoy every aspect of your passion
He has since become a main player in brand management and is a passionate user of social media, provided it fits in with his strategy. This book is not simply a read and never touch again book, but rather a book to reference throughout your journey of “passion” building. I listened to the book, but I will probably pick up an e-book or even the hardback version of this book for my library.
This book was a great look at the latest generation of post-dot-com millionaires. Gary is motivational, and very genuine. He is a bit of an "acquired taste", but he "keeps it real". The audio format was excellent. You get more for the money, as Gary strays off-script to add additional information and emphasis. Those "a.d.d." moments are also entertaining. I recommend highly to any entrepenuer!
