The purpose of this audio book is to be a performance of the book by Tim Curry, in no way do i think his performance could be enjoyed via text.
Nothing compares to A Christmas Carol, not even other Dickens works!
Tim Curry's Scrooge is a whiney toned and rather sniviling, which are two qualities i would not associate with Scrooge
Tim Curry staring as all of the character in, A christmas Carol. Truth be told that doesnt sound too bad!!!
Honestly The consistent whine of Scrooge can get grating, despite its short three hour length.
Charles Dickens is a masterful story teller, and this unabridged production is faithfully to the original book. The narrator captures Dickens' voice and humor. I could visualize the scenes, and the characters became real to me. I was thoroughly entertained.
This was such a beautiful delivery of a classic tale! Tim Curry did a wonderful job bringing Charles Dickens' words to life and I felt like I was watching the movie.
I set it to about 1.5x speed as regular talking speed is too slow. I always raise the speed so that is not a diss for this audiobook.
I highly recommend this!
Tim Curry reads this classic beautifully, and I'm quite glad I purchased this fascinating book. Having revisited the story each holiday season by watching one of many movie productions, I was pleasantly surprised by the relatable manner of Dickens's prose and its relevance today.
I listened to this in one sitting and then started it over from the beginning.
I can't imagine a better narrator than Tim Curry. I kept forgetting it was a single actor doing all the characters.
It surprised me that, having seen various film adaptations multiple times, I could be so enchanted by Dickens' original novella. I did cry, which surprised me. It's not as if I didn't know how it ended!
I only downloaded this because it was free, and it was Christmas and it seemed like a Christmas thing to do. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did.

A longer and more complete version than I am used to, and delightfully done. The narration was excellent with full emotion and realistic interpretation.
Tim Curry's ability to perform all the characters so well makes this a book you will want to listen to over and over again.
This is a wonderful story set in a much simpler time. Reinforced, for me, how important and valuable the "little things" are. Really, though, they are not "little". Family, friends, health, moments of joy, etc. A valuable lesson told through a beautiful tale with a wonderful voice. Thank you, Tim Curry, for bringing it to life.
