Ugh! I absolutly love Julie Garwoods books, but this narrator did "voices" that were reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh. I could not get past her awful accent and constant change in vocal pitch.
I have now listened to this book three times, & I'm still not bored with it. The antics that take place between Nicholaa and Royce are both funny and heart-warming. Nicholaa is an undisputed heroine in this book. And Royce ends up being the bear that's really just a teddy bear :)
As some other readers have said about this book, and Garwood's other historical romance novels on Audible, the narration done by Anne Flosnik is a little over-the-top. But at the same time, let's be honest. This is a romance novel. Flosnik's narration simply highlights the inevitable cheesiness of the genre. I don't think it takes away from the book, or makes it any less enjoyable.
In my opinion, The Prize is a must-have!
Audio-fiction ADDICT !
A typical Garwood historical . Enjoyable but not breathe-taking . Ann Flosnik is a good narrator but her male voice in some of the books like this is soooooooo thick and villainous , it's so irritating !!!!
It's always a pleasure listening to Julie's books. She always has strong characters, a great romance and a wonderful plot. This book didn't disappoint.
I give it one start because I can't give it less. I tried to love it but it's painfully slow and the plot is unimaginative and predictable. The narrator is horrible with male voices. They all similarly ridiculous. I tried listening for an hour but just ended up hating the characters. Eventually I just asked for a refund.
I just love all animals, but my personal favorite is my dog, Stella, and she amazes me daily with her intelligence and sense of fun.
Excellent pairing with narrator and author. This is well worth the credit. Hopefully more is coming.
Julie Garwood is my favorite author and didn't disappoint me with this book. good characters and good plot great description funny and delightful as all her books are
I love Julie Garwood books. However, the heroin, Nicola in this book is a disappointment. She is introduced as a smart, competent woman and then deteriorates into a whiney, manipulative child. this book was a miss in my opinion.
the voice of the reader was soothing enough to keep me enticed. Also, it did not deviate from the actual book and I did not feel like it was lacking. All in all for an audio book I will listen again.
