A middle-aged romantic who grew up reading Heinlen, Louis L'Amour and Richard Hooker. Expect and honest opinion, even if it's not PC.
I love Patricia Briggs' writing. Holter Graham is a very nice choice for narrator, with an amazing range of voice.
Reviewing Romance & Urban Fantasy
Ok. In the review of Cry Wolf I stated that I would READ the rest of the series because of my dislike for the narrator. Well….I listened to Hunting Game on audio because it was only 8 hours and I knew I could get it done in one day at work. And this time around the narrator didn’t bother me as much. I guess I got use to his voice as the characters. And I have Fair Game on audio since they offered it during a sale at audible.com and it was cheaper that the book. YES I’m cheap.
I really enjoy Briggs writing, world and characters. I like seeing that Anna and Charles are getting more comfortable with each other in each book. Charles is not a touchy feely guy. He doesn’t use words, not that he’s not smart but he choosing to show his feelings with actions. Anna is still recovering from her time with her old pack before she and Charles meet. She very much needs the words that Charles finds hard to use but he is learning how to be more vocal with Anna. She is learning how to be more physical with Charles. Touching him more and not just in a sexual way. Wolves live for touching their mates and pack members. They are both slowly teaching each other how to over come their weaknesses.
If you’ve read Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series then you know there are other supes than the werewolves and in this installment we get to see vampires and fae. Charles and Anna go in his father’s place to a big werewolf summit in Seattle where there are attacks on some of wolves and mates by vampires that seem to be hired by a wolf.
As the mystery unfolds; we really get to see Anna shine. She is starting to show how an Omega can be just as ass kick as an Alpha but in a different way.
After I finish writing this review, I’m jumping right into the audio of Fair Game. If you are a fan of werewolves you should give this series a try.
I loves this book just as good as the first one. Patricia Briggs is a great writer. Highly recommend this story and the first book too. And if you like this story you should read her books with mercy thompson serise they are great too. My only little disapointment in this book was the reader did not do the same voice for charles that he used in the first book. Other wise I love his reading of this book he really brings this book alive. Hope you enjoy.
This is a story about a hit man and the love of his life. Charles is a werewolf and has been for more than 200 years. He has been the enforcer for the Marrok his father for over 100 years. He keeps himself closed off from others since he may be called to end their lives. He met Anna and she changed everything. Brother wolf his other half would kill and do anything for his mate. They go to a meeting with wolf packs from all over. Here Anna grows stronger in her Omega powers.
Charles is my favorate person in this story. He is very complex who loves Anna and would do anything to make her happy and safe. He is very shut off from feelings of any type but since he met Anna he has turned into a strong man that can show his love and lust of another.
Holter Graham did a wonderful performance, however in this book he used a voice for Bran that he last used for Charles and the voice he used this time for Charles he used last time for Bran. He did do an excellent job on the rest of the characters. I listen when I drive my car after working at the hospial all night. This has been the only way I can stay awake. He keeps me right there in the story with him.
#TakeMeAway ~ Love to be swept away by a great story and narrator!
Another awesome addition to the Alpha and Omega series!
I know this is an older series; however, I'm slowly getting caught up! After listening to all the Mercy Thompson books, I wanted to catch up on the Alpha and Omega series (two more to go!)
Patricia has created and developed an awesome world full of shifters, vampires, witches, and other supernatural beings. Each story includes our favorite characters and is full of action and suspense. I look forward to listening to the next story!
Would rather read under a tree on a summer day, than work.
Patricia Briggs does it again with Hunting Ground.
The Charles and Anna story continues
with this latest book.
With the The wolves getting ready to come out to the world, The Marock calls a meeting with all of the alpha from different countries to discuss and offer help. Then all hell breaks out
This is a great second book .
Loving every one of Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega series - the sci fi - the suspense - the deeply touching romance between the main characters --- and their interaction with the other characters who -- even though they are fictional werefolk are still written so realistically you can hear the voices of people you know responding similarly. My biggest kudos go to them choosing Holter Graham to narrate the story. As someone who listens to a LOT of audiobooks (and having heard some great narrations as well as some TERrible desecration of the written word), I know that Holter Graham is one of The Best!
