great listen, I really enjoy Gena's books audio and paper. I have read the first three and am definitly going back to see if there are more.
Avid reader/listener of romance, action, thrillers, and spy novels.
If you're into the series, you need this one. It won't make sense without it. But, if you're looking for a time filler during other authors' release dates, don't get into this series. I found it flat, compared to the other series that I read. It's nothing against the author, you just like what you like. This is ok, but not the best IMHO.
I don't know. I'm really on the fence about this one. I hate saying negative things about other people's work, especially when they work so hard to get it out there. I'd recommend that they get it from the library first to test it out. If they like it, they can buy it.
I compare everyone to Holter Graham and Ray Porter. Graham would've been perfect for this one. Ever Fred Berman would've been preferable. I liked Max, just not enough to keep my interest for long.
I don't really know. Maybe a different narrator? Maybe my expectations were too high?
This series just keeps getting better. Showalter does a great job creating a strong female character that is flawed and venerable too. In some books if the woman is physically strong she loses that vulnerability that makes her relatable. Anya is so many things wrapped into one person. I really like her. And Lucien??????. well he is her opposite in so many ways but they balance each other. I thought it was a nice change from the norm that it was the man with the insecurities about his physical appearance. He is a beautiful contradiction. He is completely confident in his strength and abilities to fight while he is unable to believe that any one could ever find him attractive. Watching the struggle with physical and emotional flaws is both entertaining and uplifting in this book. All of the characters in the book are so intriguing that I can???t wait to read their personal story.
I'm glad I did not let the heavy love scenes in the first book turn me away from giving the series another try. I LOVED this book. The story line and narration are both very good. My favorite part of this book was the sparring interraction between the two protagonists. Very entertaining.
Yes. Great story. Fast paced. Difficult to put down
Story line and sexual tension.
He scenes after Lucian lost his strength
No, but definitely wanted to listen nonstop.
I'm not wild about the voice the narrator chooses for the major featured male character. They nealy sound
No, not really. I found the first 2/3's of the book long and a bit uninteresting.
There were times the narrator's voice didn't convey the emotion or importance of a situation.
I loved book one but book two is the same thing all through the first half. do not know if I will even bother to read part 2. it is about 2 people who are constant lusting for each others body but never gived in to the lust on and on...so boring I could scream. Looking for something better. Money wasted on this one for sure.
I hardly ever write a review but had to on this boring part 2. Liz
Anya makes me laugh. The narrator does an excellent job on portraying the Lords and makes the book extremely steamy and sexy. Can’t wait to hear more from Showalter
I'm completely hooked on this series after this book! The Darkest Night was great and this was a great follow up - I love how Showalter intertwines one book to the next. My only semi-negative comment would be that as much as I like Max Bellmore's voice for each of these books, I wish Anya's voice wasn't quite so whiny. Then again, that does fit with some of her personality so it's not anything I felt took away from the book.
