This was my first Jack Reacher book and, if my memory serves me right, also my first Lee Child book. I thought the narrator did a fine job given the material, but the book could have been much better with more editing. I lost track of the authors abuse of ending many dialogue lines with "..., right?" I find it highly unlikely that all these characters would use that kind of language given their varying background. Since I usually keep to the less "gory" side of the mystery/techno/thriller aisle I was kind of put off by the gratuitous violence which in many situations seemed overkill. Some readers will probably find that kind of gory detail exhilarating, but I did not care for it. To end this review on a more positive note, I found the storyline somewhat plausible and it could work both geographically and chronologically.
in the top 10
Reacher was the MAN! Good perspective from the first person. Although I think some more development of the character is in order...this is book !
not that I remember - he was GOOD!
yes but way too long for that
I'm new to the Jack Reacher novels, and I really enjoyed the narration and storyline in this novel. I enjoyed the character of Reacher, who's seen a lot and doesn't really get surprised by anything anymore. He's a drifter who can take care of himself, yet keep his enemies underestimating his skills. I'm not sure if I'll listen to the second book unless I can find one by the same narrator, Dick Hill really seemed to get this character and he even did female voices well.
Usually, I don't usually listen to books a second time.
I really enjoyed the story line as well as the narrator.
No, this was my first experience with Dick Hill. I did find his narration clear and enjoyable.
Lots of unexpected turns.
I enjoy the narrator as well as the story
With a narrator like Dick Hall, Mr. Child has the right stuff. The 2nd half of book is fast pace, hard to sit book aside.
En Dieu Ma Foy
Who is Jack Reacher? Where does he come from? And what is he doing in a small Georgia town on the day the murders start? Lee Child does a fantastic job introducing his character and immediately putting him in harms way. The only drawback is that Child introduces individuals or their names early in the book and then walks away just long enough that when he mentions them again you are trying to scramble and remember who they are. His writing draws you in and makes you want more.
Dick Hill does a great job presenting Lee Child's work. He makes Jack Reacher come alive and swagger his way through this modern mystery. This is a good book, good performance, and good overall story.
YES, BECAUSE I FALL ASLEEP READING ANYTHING.
FIRST TIME, NOW I LOOK FOR HIS NARATIONS.
DICK HILL IS ON THE CD THREE 3 PACKS FROM BRILLIANCE AUDIO FOR BOOKS 1 TO 9. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THEY ARE ABRIGDED, BUT GOOD.
It really held me on the edge of my seat.
I love the way Reacher thinks.
I thought it did rate a 5 star listing experience.
yes. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I'm not sure. So far I've only listened to Dick Hill as narrator for this series.
Once I started listing to the book I didn't want to stop till I found out how it would end.
