I bought the second Child book, "Die Trying" after I finished this one. With series books I like to see how the author develops the characters and his/her writing style over time. And I love Dick Hill as a narrator!
It was a complex story and it kept me guessing until the end. Parts of the story were too violent for my taste but I liked how the story kept me guessing who was a "bad guy" and who was a "good guy."
Yes, I think so. The time really went by fast listening to it.
It allowed me to use my imagination and I felt as if I was there with reacher.
Great first book in the series. Plan to work on this series now. Very well done!
There are some people you don't want to mess with and some people you want on your side when you are in a bind. Reacher is both of these. I have reviewed other Reacher books and they have all been enjoyable. One of the nice things about Reacher books is that Lee Child has written them in a way that allows the reader to pick up any of the books in the series. You don't have to pick up the first in the volume to know what is going on. Given that this was the first in the series, I was excited to read it, and it didn't disappoint. I will certainly continue through the series.
The story is intriguing and exciting. The mortality rate is high and, at times, a bit gruesome. The narration improved - at first the narrator sounded like someone doing a 2nd rate Jack Nicholson impression but he dropped the sneer from his voice and it improved. I would recommend the book but the verdict is still out as to whether I will continue rambling with Jack Reacher or not.
This was my first Lee Child novel. So yes, I would consider my time listening to the book well-spent. I now know what to expect from his other books.
I don't want to give anything away, but the intricacies of the plot was very interesting. The least interesting was the romance.
I felt the narration could have been a little faster.
Yes, I would go see this book turned movie.
Does anybody actually read a book and then listen to it? Give me a break with this question already!
Jack Reacher kicking ass.
There are several, but the prison scene's stand out.
This is a great book if you can ignore a few too many coincidences.
Cant wait to read the next book . Dick Hill knows how to bring Lee Childs work to life. what a duo they make. Jack Reacher is a very likeable charactor. Hill, Childs , and Reacher make a powerful three punch. Keep them coming Mr. Childs.
Love the first of the Jack Reacher series of books. In a lot of ways it is still my favorite. He is the best out there unfortunately Child sometimes puts out some mediocre books in this series. I love the character and everything. You must remember that this isn't War and Peace and shouldn't be judged as if it was. You get a great suspenseful story with some twists along the way. It is laughable that Cruise played Reacher on the big screen.
