This was my first Lee Child novel. So yes, I would consider my time listening to the book well-spent. I now know what to expect from his other books.
I don't want to give anything away, but the intricacies of the plot was very interesting. The least interesting was the romance.
I felt the narration could have been a little faster.
Yes, I would go see this book turned movie.
Does anybody actually read a book and then listen to it? Give me a break with this question already!
Jack Reacher kicking ass.
There are several, but the prison scene's stand out.
This is a great book if you can ignore a few too many coincidences.
Cant wait to read the next book . Dick Hill knows how to bring Lee Childs work to life. what a duo they make. Jack Reacher is a very likeable charactor. Hill, Childs , and Reacher make a powerful three punch. Keep them coming Mr. Childs.
Love the first of the Jack Reacher series of books. In a lot of ways it is still my favorite. He is the best out there unfortunately Child sometimes puts out some mediocre books in this series. I love the character and everything. You must remember that this isn't War and Peace and shouldn't be judged as if it was. You get a great suspenseful story with some twists along the way. It is laughable that Cruise played Reacher on the big screen.
Long commutes need something to remove the boredom! Love history, mysteries/thrillers, scifi and bios, but read a little bit of everything.
I wasn't sure whether I was going like this book or not. I am not quick to start different authors but I got a good recommendation and got the book - it was worth it. Lee Child keeps the story moving with few, if any, slow spots and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing what is going to happen next. Dick Hill also does wonderful job presenting the story as Jack - very entertaining. This is just the beginning of a long series, so I am looking forward to working my way through. Great book, join me on the journey.
I listened to all of the Harry Bosch series and enjoyed the reader. Dick Hill provides a great listening experience.
Most of the books I listen to you can figure out the plot about half way through, this one kept twisting and turning until the very end.
I have always liked his voices, they somehow boom out and grab you.
Yes, but I had to go to work, and mow the yard, and all those mundane everyday things. I have it on my iPhone so I could listen evey chance I got.
The half finished sentences, ridiculous plot coincidences, stereotypical cliched characters and mind numbing repetition of scenes did not help, but what ruined the book was the constant use of the word "right" at the end of so many sentences. It really was a bore, right?
I'm not even sure what genre this book falls into. Too simplistic to be crime, too boring and overly repetitious to be action or suspense. Too cliched to be entertaining, right? Too many outlandish plot coincidences to be believable.
The narrator seemed to feel the need to dramatise the reading, almost as though he is a failed actor now trying audio book narration to make a living, right? He employs the worst stereotypes, all of the women characters sound weak and pathetic (particularly Roscoe), the black barbers are portrayed with the most ridiculous accents and Finlay's accent and tone is almost comical.
Embarassment that I was actually listening to this book, right? That combined with agonised laughter at the constant use of the word "right".
I listened to this book whilst running my daily 10 miles. The one positive is that I recorded some fast times just so that I could rip the headphones from my head at the finish and not have to listen to any more for 24 hours.
I enjoyed it because my expectations were low and it was just as I expected. However I don't plan to continue with the series. There was too much gratuitous violence for my taste. That isn't a criticism but more of a personal choice. It has been a while since I read or listened to this kind of book and just thought I would give it another try. However the story was interesting and kept me till the end.
Better Story, Better writing, better naration
Removed the words, "Right and ok" from the text, be more descriptive and less predicable!
I don't know where to begin.
If this book was free it would be a good deal.
