I don't see what all of the rave reviews are about. I'd put this in the "mediocre" category at most. I never experienced any tension and the plot was marginal. Lots of stereotyping. I remember I audibly groaned at times!
I could barely make it through 1/3 of this book without finally giving up. The premise was good, but way too wordy. It lost my interest early on.
I listeened through the whole book but really had a hard time geting involved until 2/3 of the way through. And the ending was equally disappointing. Many of the characters were two-dimensional. To paraphrase the movie "Amadeus", there were too many words. Perhaps the unabridged version would have been better for me.
