Nora's different back stories always interest me. This one is magic, the next I read was whiskey, & the most recent one I just finished was race horses. She does such a thorough job with the background details. Love it. Sandra Burr is excellent as usual.
Should have read this one. Not sure if it was the narrator reading too fast or the sound editor botching it, but the end result was a speed read that was choppy and unnatural. Very distracting.
Totally addicted to Audible.
Yes this is an old book and the recording is really bad, but what a great story. Classic Nora Roberts with characters that stay in your mind, I am sure I will listen to this one again one day. Audible should consider re-recording as I had to listen at half speed to keep it from sounding like chipmunks. But it was just what I was in the mood for!
Don't make the same mistake I did. This is not one of Roberts' more recent suspense novels. This is dated and strictly
romance and seems like it would be about 5 hours shorter without the mushy/sex scenes.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the characters and plot, just got tired of the gratuitous "scenes". Wish my mp3 player was easier to fast forward like old disc player...
I AM a fan of Roberts suspense novels like CAROLINA MOON, CHASING FIRE, & NORTHERN LIGHTS. Guess next time I need to figure how to do a more advanced search to weed out the strictly romance. For me it was a waste of a credit.
Sandra Burr is a terrific narrator.
I will definitely listen to the sample next time I buy a book! The narrator reads to fast to understand her. I will have to buy the book on this one.
I read so I can write
When Nora Roberts writes a great book she writes a great book. The characters and the story worked together all the way to a fantastic ending. It's books like this one that keeps me solidly prepared to buy what she writes.
Say something about yourself!
probably on trying another book, but not fond of Sandra Burr as a narrator. She does okay as the female voices, but weak in male voices.
not one I would probably listen to again, so comes way short of Montana Sky, or The Witness.
