I do not enjoy any part of sitting down and reading a book. My best friend would not stop about how much better Twilight was in book vs. the movie - So she talked me into trying the audio book. I am in love!! It plays right on my phone while I am around the house, in the car, or on break at work. What a great new addiction - And she was SO right, this is tons better than the movie (And I still Love the movie!!)
It's gets quite sappy at times, but the story grips me from the start. This is my least favorite of the saga but I still haven't tired of reading/listening to it.
I think the appeal of these to adult readers starts at book 3. I think Book 1 is a bit overrated by itself. There is little to no plot until the last 1/3 of the book The major mystery up until then is "what os Edward?" and we all know what the answer to that is form the first page, so... let's just say it is a bit dull and derivative for a while.
But books 3 and 4 are really fun and well worth the reading of the first two, slower books. I overall give the sires a 4 star rating, with 3 for 1-2, and 5 for 3-4.
I listened to this book in 2 days, on a road trip. I couldn't stop listening. I was completely drawn in. Yes, the story line is intended for younger readers, but I was swept away to Forks, right along with the characters.
I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.
This is such a great series. It has everything, romance, humor, and for me the best thing, no bad language.
I am a NOT a teenager, and am amazaed at how I am so hooked on these books! I had heard about the series a bit, but had never had any urge to read them - who wants to read about teenage vampires in love? At a friend's house recently, she wanted me to watch the movie with and I LOVED it! She gave me the four-book series and I went home and did NOTHING else but read for the next week (which reminded me why I switched to audio books). Then I bought the first audio book and listened to it while rereading the books! Don't know why this touched a cord in me - but it did! I liked the narrator. I thought she did a very good job. (This is the first review I have ever written in my years as an audible reader, by the way.) I would urge readers to get out of their reading comfort zone and try these books.
