I commute to work, about 40 minutes each way, and love to listen to audio books. Unfortunately, I'm very picky and if the narrator doesn't do a great job and transport me into the story (or if the story sucks) I stop listening and turn on music. I admit to enjoying the Twilight movies and my friend was able to get me to read the first 2 books. I can be a bit of a speed reader if I'm really interested in what happens next, so it took me 3 days to read the 2 books but I felt like I was missing a lot. This audio book was fantastic. I was instantly transported to Forks each time I drove to and from work. I even began listening on my days off. Now, maybe a month later, I just downloaded the 4th book, and amazing series with a terrific narrator!!
Something has to be really bad for me not to like it.
At first the narrator of this audiobook took a while for me to get use to...but now I love her. I guess the reason it took a while is because at first I was comparing her voice to that of Kristen Stewart. And even though I read the book before seeing the movie, and then listened to this, I can say that hearing it read aloud was like reading it all over again. I could see different images than when I read it myself. It was great. The author just sounds older than we all know Bella is, which is where it threw me.
My favorite love story! I love the Twililght books all of them !!! I just -WISHED -- that Stephenie Meyer would write the Book Midnight Sun finished all about Edward's part, that is as much , if not even the most best of them all I love reading the draft she has on her webside!!! I just hope she will write Midnight Sun finished !!!
I agree that the narrator's voice is extremely irritating on some parts. Especially when she actually says "BELLA", she over enunciates it. But I do love the story to bits. I just wish they could remake this audio book series with a different voice.
Wonderful story, the whole series. I did not like the narrator at first, but you get use to her. Great story and I had refused to read or listen, because I did not think I would like a story about vampires. Basically are really good love story.
The choice of narrator can make all the difference in the world and I am sorry to say they really blew it with the choice of narrator for the entire Twilight Saga series. This series was my very first experience with audiobooks. Having now completed the whole series (67 hours of narration collectively), I can honestly say that loved everything about the story and Stephenie Meyer's writing. However, the narrator's voice and speech patterns (I believe her name is Ilyana Kadushin) almost made me quit before completing first book. Listening to her reminded me of a bratty, whiny teenage "valley girl", and every single time she would mention her own name, "Bella"... ugh, it just made me cringe. I cannot imaging this would have been Meyer's choice, she could not possibly have wanted Bella to speak that way. Too bad, otherwise I really enjoyed the books.
I've read the books and they are great, the audio however is terrible. I couldn't even stand to listen to the samples!
Sometimes the voice is a little off, but definately worth the listen. I have read the books and listened to the audible book and till worth downloading.
Stephenie Meyer did a wonderful job in this book painting the picture of a teenager, Bella, in a small town and falling in love with a vampire. Unfortunately, the narrator IIyana manages to make this boring and bland. I love this book and the way it grabbed my attention, but when I listen to it I start drifting off because the narrator never managed to do the same.
