This was the book that I first listened to ever.
Already listened to over a hundred books and keep turning back to this one
For a first listener and not a native speaking English, I was amazed how clear was the performance (had a book in hand too, afraid not to follow, but put that away quickly)
About the story: this was the book that made my wife a reader after 30 or so years.
This was a teen novel but fun nevertheless. I will probably listen to the other part of the series at some time.
This book is wonderful!! You won't be bored, very exciting!! You will be hooked on the series, I know I am!!
The book far surpasses the movies. The narrator takes you away to a world of fantasy that seems so real with her incredible narration. She is perfect. She makes you feel as if you are there watching Edward and Bella as they live out there interesting love story through the ups and downs. This novel blows the movie away!!!
I'm a teen; my favorites series are Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and Twilight by Stephene Meyer.
I discovered Twilight in April 2006 by browsing through pages and pages audiobooks on Audible.com!!! I saw the cover, the name, read the summary, and thought, hey, that sounds interesting! Boy am I sosososo glad I did, and proud that I did so before it became crazy popular. I love it for it's perfectly impossible story and beautiful writing. Stephenie Meyer deserves all the credit for her wonderful series, and like the characters, it really should continue on forever! I am in denial with the fact that it's supposedly over :P
Also, I am glad for the fact that the first version of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse that I read was by audiobook. Ilyana Kadushin is a superb narrator, one of the best on Audible. The moment she speaks you know which character is talking, and when I watched the movies, I was disappointed that the characters, especially Bella, didn't sound the way Kadushin did! I don't read many long books, but I enjoy listening to them, and it's all due to great narrators like her.
So everything is awesome...the story...the fact that you get three more long books to download if you loved this (which you will)...and that the listen is very smooth and enjoyable (unlike some books which are great but with unpleasant-sounding narrators). It's win, win, win.....even if you have read the actual book before, if you are a true Twilight fan, you must own every version available <3 <3 <3
I love the Twilight movies, and I've tried reading this book before and the story put me to sleep so I had hopes having a recorded copy will help me get through the book. I was wrong. Her voice, although much like the actress who plays Bella, is very dull. Also, I don't like that she doesn't change her voice to portray the character she is speaking for. Other books I've gotten, I can tell by the voice the reader changes into, which character is speaking; this is not the case for this book. Such a shame!
When I was in high school, my English Lit teacher said that every summer, right before school started back, she deliberately picked a book that was "pure trash" and immersed herself in it before diving back into fine literature. This is on of those books. I was a late convert to this series because I don't typically like romance novels, especially ones that make teenagers swoon. But a trusted friend recommended them and I thought I could at least give it a try. I read all four books back to back. Read several of them twice. In fact, when I got to Breaking Dawn, I only had one credit left in my account so I called Audible and had them turn my account over early so I could get the book that day. Are they serious literature? No, but who cares. Literature as Art has its place and I do love it. But this was a great ride, and those have their place too.
Wow, what a wrap up! As I listened to the book, I could see in my mind the whole thing happening. I love the way this was read, it was a great book and a great wrap up of a story line.
I commute to work, about 40 minutes each way, and love to listen to audio books. Unfortunately, I'm very picky and if the narrator doesn't do a great job and transport me into the story (or if the story sucks) I stop listening and turn on music. I admit to enjoying the Twilight movies and my friend was able to get me to read the first 2 books. I can be a bit of a speed reader if I'm really interested in what happens next, so it took me 3 days to read the 2 books but I felt like I was missing a lot. This audio book was fantastic. I was instantly transported to Forks each time I drove to and from work. I even began listening on my days off. Now, maybe a month later, I just downloaded the 4th book, and amazing series with a terrific narrator!!
